Kali Mist Phenotypes

Hey folks,

What are the keeper Kali Mist phenos to look for? I'm going to be selecting a Mom from this grow, and wondering what to keep an eye out for.

Also........ Is there a fruity cherry/ strawberry smelling pheno of Kali Mist? I'm not talking about the infamous cherry AK47.... I think one of my Kali's smells like a cross of strawberries and cherries. I also have bubblegums growing, but I'm pretty sure this was coming off of one of the Kali's. All the others have a spearmint & spice type of smell. Any thoughts?

Hello Neville H,

Kali mist is one of the finest sativa hybrids in the world. You can find many excellent phenos, but i'd always select for that exotic incense smell and best effect, there are hashy/incense phenos, skunk/incense, lemony/incense phenos in the taller long flowering plants, they are all great and very good yielding and with great apperance (lots of resins, huge calyxes, long pistils, very high flower/leaf ratio). Yes there is such a pheno or at least similar. A buddy was growing some outside and smelled like sweet fruity bubblegum and was for sure Kali Mist from seed.

I go with Dubi on the incense smelling phenos. I had one that smelled like perfumey soap in flower and smelled EXACTLY like a good Nag Champa incense when burning...didn't even smell like pot. Was the best smoke I've ever grown or tried to date. Absolutely happy, clear, soaring, 'spiritual' high that literally put a smile on everyone's face with no paranoia, no ceiling and cut through everything else you had been smoking.

Some people here speak highly of an indica pheno which is preferred by some over the more prevalent sativa.

there's quite a broad range of phenos within a fairly tight parameter and I'd reckon the perfumey soap smell is what I call an Ode' Cologne and is fairly prevalent. There's the bubblegum which is rare, maybe 1 in 40 or something ands so sweet it can attract ants and everything else and therees one which turns deep purple and almos blck on maturity and smells what I'd call blueberries or something beautiful sweet over sour and pungent in the berry line with really tight nuggets.

I'd reckon the perfumey soap smell is what I call an Ode' Cologne and is fairly prevalent.

On my second indoor run about 5 years ago I got 3 different cuts of Kali. 1 being more indica, not fruity, but pretty subdued perfumey soap and kind of a creamier taste. The next pheno was incensy and definitely more sat. The 3 grew exactly the same as the 2nd but the fragrance/flavor was probably twice as strong. It was so strong I had to let it cure at least a month before smoking otherwise it literally tasted like you were chewing on a bar of perfumed soap. Once it mellowed it was holy shit good flavorful.

I have 5 Kali Mist growing and three confirmed females, one smells really skunky and squat with wider leaves, and another has an incense smell that is similar to this Original Haze x Skunk I have growing as well, the incense kali is really stretchy too. I really only have one short one, the rest are Sativa looking. Can't wait to see what I get

Yes, your end is near, Simon says: We have changed the Kali slightly 3 times over the years, all because of reasons of improvement; before '98, between '98 and 2000, and after 2000.....That the present Kali is the same as before '98 is also not true...

Thanks for all the replies everyone... I realize that the Kali Mist has changed a couple of times over the last 15 years, but I really am not concerned too much about debating the old vs new, etc. I'm just happy to be growing this plant, and am looking for the best plant I can find in this batch.

I have smoked the Mist of Destruction version of Kali mist with him ad the boys at the Seedbotique a couple years ago, and it was totally MUSKY.

A very long pointy buds with tropical sativa traits and this straight musky smell and flavour.

Right now im growing Kali Mist x Sour Diesel and one of them is totally indica, short and squat. any thoughts?

KALI MIST- strongest sativa ever

in my opinion the "perfumy soap" pheno is not the best of the kali! in fact thats the sharp "haze" smell that gives me a headache. shrom is another probibly even better plant with that unmistakable smell. Old schoolers LOVE that smell .. every time i go by an ol'timers house i always get --dude bring some of that "columbian" smelling stuff back by..lol

my favorite kalimist(best sativa too!) was a killer cat piss sativa pheno a few years back.caked with trics, tasted like grass & ammonia.. the high was pure electric. to me it was too much.. racey electric parinoid feeling like a bad acid trip.. i lost that pheno right after i grew it & i am wanting to do another pack to find it again,but that was over 5 yrs ago who knows if it is still in the mix...

yeppers, the cat piss pheno still exists in there though it may not be all that prevalent...I think I got several of these amongst 39 females and around 20 males which had been sourced from two seperate seed suppliers...

I saved one particularly rare male for its thorough branch development and compact structure, slightly earlier flowering time and tight florets
