well I've just read a few threads, and it seems that people are saying that tap water would be better for a hydro setup, mine is a recirculating system. its only 2 gallons and I have 5 plants in it. worst of all, there are 3 different strains in it too. I want to go to a bigger res. thinking of going to 20 - 30 gallon. I just need to know which water will be best for me, distilled or tap? btw my tap water is at 6.8 and an ec value of .1-.2 or about 50-100 ppm at .5 convertion.

the fact that your tap water is a nice pH....i would use that.

with the distilled, you will have to add ph down each time, and add micro nutrients.

you will get many differing opinions, but me, i would be happy to have your tap water!

not arguing w/ you, but whats ur beef with the chart???

Ummm, it's completely misleading the element availability at various pH levels.
No single element cuts off or begins at one point like that square "bar style" graph shows.
It's totally misrepresenting the situation and thus very misleading.
The hydro side of that chart for example has people starting at an input pH of 5.8, where mg is actually at it's very weakest point,
then look at ca ! That chart is sooooo f'ked up it's rediculous.

Here's a much more accurate and widely accepted pH availability chart.

i got you now, and i agree... when i started growing, i saw that other chart and realized myself that these elements wouldn't just start or end at those 'squared points' of ph. i thought you were saying all ph charts and ph availabilities were f'ed up... but i got you now...thanks... sorry to detour this thread but, im done now. :joint:

I use regular tap water in a DWC setup..pH is about 6.7 and no need for pH up/down...I also run the Flora series of nuts so they have built in buffers that the ladies seem to love.....

Peace....HF
