LOL! I hope the title isnt too harsh for you all, I just want to get a point across. Of course im not telling anyone in here to go F themselves in case you misunderstood the context of the title. So dont bash me lol.

Ok i just got done watchin the ac 360 pot special and im so sick of the medical arguement and the opposing side always using the same defense..."people are getting med cards just so that they can get high". Stop hiding from this arguement people! I say, SO FUCKING WHAT?!!! If you really think about it, people are just going to the bars to get drunk, smoking cigs to mellow out, drinking coffee to speed up, and taking prescription pharmaceutical pills to do god knows what. So whos to say i cant smoke a joint just to get silly...?

Oxycotton (one of many) is one of the most popular, problematic and dangerous drugs out there, and is distributed via legal pharm. companies. LEO is trying to locate and bust the drug dealers selling the oxy's, when the guy that is supplying them to him is right out in the open (pharm. companies)!! Doesnt anyone else find it kind of funny how much oc floats these days..? I swear up and down that the pharm. companies are secretly doing this on purpose to make more money. Its kind of like how the tobacco and alchohol companies dont aim for the underage audience.....(ya right):fsu:

And everyone is worried about weed.......? Scary...:yoinks:
The day i see someone cooking down and injecting cannabis into their body via hypodermic needle is the day i MIGHT start to worry about it....a little bit.

I wish i could find some side by side videos of a person detoxing from weed vs. a person detoxing from Oxycotton. Its like DAY AND NIGHT PEOPLE!
WEED =Muchies and sleepy time then wake up a tad groggy.
OXY= a week or longer of cold sweats, cramps, puking, weakness, aching all over, sleepless nights, and shitting yourself, all of this going on while fighting the actual addiction remember. This is all PHYSICAL detox effects, none of these symptoms can be controlled mentally. This is what TRUE addiction is!!! Im not arguing that pot isnt physically addictive, because it is, but only to an extent. Maybe trouble sleeping, irritability, crazy dreams, or night sweats, but thats bout it. You can quit pot and work your 40 hrs 9-5 all in the same week, but if your on the H train and trying to quit, im sorry to say that there aint a chance in hell your going into work fo a while!!!!

Wow its late, a lot more to say but im off to the barracks. Thanks for listening. See you in the morn. -s'h

Yea, I agree w/ you...weed is not harmful, and not addictive...after smoking for like 10 yrs (98-07) I took a few months off...it was sad but not like withdrawals or anything. Funny tho..theres times when u still think stoned even when ur not...does that make sense?

although i agree with you, you do not realize that they do not want you to get high because herb is an entheogen, they say "people will get high" in fear that people do actually become higher... they want you to get drunk and fucked up on cough medicine instead, and forget about entheogens.
each day it becomes more obvious that the main beef they have with cannabis is that it actually up-lifts people's consciousness.

its such a terrible drug, its almost like the war against drugs is to keep heroin etc out of the US so they can pump everyone full of "legal" "drugs" and make a killing off of it..

I smoke to get high, which in turn helps with stress and sleep.

Stress reduction and quality sleep lead to a healthier body and mind.

So, am I a responsible medical user or a criminal recreational user? Who gets to decide? Politicians?

Honestly I don't think it matters, and it really shouldn't matter. Just legalize it and let the people pursue happiness however they see fit as our Constitution guarantees.

Its a sick sad world, yet beautiful at the same time. Pharm. companies and the gov. are like butt buddies. Same goes for major car companies, and of course Big tobbacco. They are all in it togethe the money, and one day its gonna come back and bite 'em in the ass eventually. There is so many payoffs, bribery, and blackmail in our gov its bullshit. You really think we run this run country..? NOPE! Whoever has the most money and power usually does. Our input doesnt matter in anything anymore, the only thing that matters is how much money joe blow senator is paid to take a certain stance on certain issues etc... I really do see a civil war in the future. The people vs. the goverment! Someone just needs to catch our gov. doing some REALLY shady shit red handed to set off the fuse. Like if someone were able to find solid evidence that our gov was responsible for 9/11. Or that the whole invasion of iraq was soley for oil. Unravel the cover-ups.

Personally, i think that every figure in gov system needs to be rejected from their position, and replaced with new people every time a new president is in office. No more family legacies carrying on stupid views and traditions of the past. Nobody should be connected with anybody! That way nobody can pay anybody off.

You could probly run a whole country from the net..! Instead of having all of these ppl in higher positions make decisions for you, you could make them yourself. Like for example, instead of each state having its own representatives and senators, it could have its own forums with all the issues that need addressed and you can simply vote on them and dicuss them. When voting closes, the computer tallys the votes! Simple stuff like this.

I couldn't agree with the OP more..... I had a friend who passed away last year after getting addicted to painkillers and muscle relaxers following a car accident. He had even OD'd and landed in the hospital a few months before he passed and I moved him to another state where I was staying to help him, and he went back home and a week later passed..... He couldn't get past his addiction, even after waking in the hospital with tubes coming out of his mouth and veins; that experience wasn't enough to stop the addiction (even though he assured me he never wanted to go through anything like that again and wouldn't mess around with that stuff when he went home)

The chemical cocktails that the big pharm companies are creating are the real addictive, dangerous substances that need to be looked at, not the plant that helps many of the same conditions that these pills are created to treat. I know many who have had problems with LEGAL drugs and it infuriates me to think about how this is all handled.

I don't have a problem with your own personal choice about your appearance, however, I think I'll comment on what you have said...so, to each his own, but IMO...

I REALLY think when partaking in activism, how you appear is important; it DOES matter to the rest of society. One of the most A-typical "stoner" profiles, is red eyes, slouched posture, poorly bathed, wrinkled, dirty/smelly clothes, unkempt hair...just an overall appearance of laziness and lack of awareness....

Regardless of how true that is or is not, it is still a perception that must be overcome. The more professional, well kept, successful, CITIZENS (meaning, active, productive, contributing members of community/society) that are identified as being "pot smokers", the better and easier the transition will be and the easier it will be for the mainstay of society to relate. I think the more the general public identifies cannabis users as just like themselves... the better it is from a socio-politico perspective.

To me, it is no different than a black person embracing the "ghetto" stereotype, or a homosexual embracing the "flaming" side of things, and I think giving way to the stereotypical appearance/behavior of a "stoner" is just as damaging for the whole populace as the afore mentioned examples...nor is it an accurate representation of the majority of cannabis users as a whole.

However, if you want to kick it around your house for a week and bum out "stoner" style...that is all good. I just don't think it is the right image to bring to the front lines and expect the general public to walk away with a positive experience/opinion about cannabis or the movement in general.

**edit**

I won't even get into the security risks it creates. I mean, if everyone else can identify you as a "stoner", then I am sure that LEO can as well....

I (lately) medicate my psyche with weed. I say lately, because there have been times that I got blasted on as many substances that I could, and eventually passed out.

When I medicate I smoke small amounts of good stuff to give me a mental lift. I like the way it wakes me up and makes me happier. When I am happier I am more apt to want to do something fun, and that could be anything from writing, playing golf, to having sex. Jokes are funnier, and freaky things are freakier and I prefer that to regular life. I can still drive a car or do my work and I am not passing out. Weed is a good drug for me. When I look at other medicines I have taken, Pain Pills for instance, they cause more problems than they help. As nice as a pain free existance is, there are worse side effects.

I am good friends with a doctor, I mention him all the time. He is pro weed big time, although he doesn't really smoke it himself. He is half black and fears the prejudice that exist having it on him. He is in Nicaragua right now, so we just email each other. When I am telling him I am depressed he always says, "Stay off the anti-depressants and stay off the heavy boozing. They both are a pretty hard on you. Stay on the weed and you will be fine." He is just my friend, not my doctor, but he is the best doctor I ever had. He is a really smart guy too, not just someone that goes off on wild tangents. When he says something it is always presented perfectly and holds water if you check him on it. Not your favorite person to be on the other side of an argument with.

So here we are. Waiting for these guys to make it legal. They won't. I have been waiting for 35 years. A nice weed that will grow wild and free if allowed, but they will take your house away if you let it. I guess as long as it is illegal you will not have a society that is completely blitzed. Society is a funny thing... It has a tendency to run a muk.

Weed is addictive BTW. It is about the same as caffeine.

Call a spade a spade..

What does Viagra do?

What does Many of the other drugs do?

It might be for one thing, but people take it for another thing.

I loved taking Cialis with a certain anti-depressant (Paxil) or pain pills. I cold fuck for two days straight (providing I had weed and liquor).

I think the biggest problem to society if they legalize it? People growing their own medicine will hurt the economy. Seriously, 100% the worst reason. Many doctors, other health professionals, and pharmacies would see an impact to their bottom line.

...So whos to say i cant smoke a joint just to get silly...?

This is a good point that can tend to get overlooked in the MMJ debates. While many in the general public are slowly coming more and more to support the purely medical use of cannabis, there is still a sad lack of support for the right to get high. Whether spiritual, recreational, or experimental, I feel the right to get high, to experience different states of consciousness, is a basic human right and as such should be protected by our laws. Part of the reason for drug prohibition is fear of altered states of consciousness, which is rooted in ignorance.
