WildMadThrills First Grow

Hey guys, this is my first grow, got a PC grow box set up with two 23w 6500k cfls the plant is a blueberry x ak47, grown from seed. today is day 16 since planted. the soil mixture is just 2 parts organic potting mix, and one part perlite.

i have just been giving it room temp. h2o. i let it sit out over night because its tap water , in hopes that it will get rid of any added chlorine.

anyways heres the photos i have so far. i'll update as it go along. also i plan on moving it to a closet for flowering and getting a 400 hps light for flowering as well. also i have it on a 24 hr cycle right now of just the two 23w cfls, it seems to be working fine. though probably gonna be changing to a 18/6 cycle in about a week or 2
any comments or tips are greatly appreciated.

Back from the woods

Back from the woods

just got back from a over niter at the cabin for the may 2-4 weekend. hope you all enjoyed your weekend. anyways on to the photos.
Its now day 17 and things are starting to take off. the first set of leaves has some sort of crazy 3 main vein thing going on but it seems fine. i'll update with more photos and any changes as things go. also i was wondering about light getting to the roots whether or not its a major problem for the plant. as of rite now its in a 2L cola bottle but i'll be transplanting it to a larger 1gal later on.

Looks like you're off to a real nice start, everything looks great. :)
Yeah, interesting veining on the first set of leaves...

For what it's worth...most will tell you that light-exposed roots are a bad idea and easily solved by putting duct-tape or some masking around the soil area of the bottle. At the same time - like so much else in growing, there's always another way - some will tell you it doesn't matter; I've seen grows from seed to finish that didn't hide light from the roots around the corners of the pot/container. Personally, I like to stick to no-light for roots.

At the same time, in the container you're in now, it'll help to see when it's time for a transplant. You'll see the extensive root growth and then you can be sure it's time to transplant. You don't want to transplant too early lest the rootball fall apart, if you're pulling it out of the container to move it to larger digs.

Good luck, we'll be watching!

thanks for the reply Charlie, i got the container covered with a think plastic bag so that way i can remove the bag to check on root growth.

Ok so heres a quick update, i have moved from the pc grow box to the closet area. and have its now in a 1 gal container. also i now have 6 cfls running for the mean time since i have yet to acquire a HPS, but things seem to be working fine. Its now day 35 and i have started its 12/12 cycle. the temp when the lights are off stays around 73, and just under 80 with them on. its been topped and seems to have taken the cut very well. still no signs of what sex, at least none i can see.
