i have recently become fascinated with kush. i have scored it a few times lately and it has always been killer. is there a source that i can learn more about this strain and its origins? there seems to be a ton of examples of kush and would really like to know more about its lineage. does any one have a good resource for valid info on this strain.

kush is the bizzness. the taste is hard to describe but you all know what im talking about. Good kush has a sour taste, earthy, strong, so god damn tasty. its what all weed should taste like. My favorite is OG that i usually grab at the nearby clubs, but lately i have just been smoking Sour Diesal because its a little cheaper and the taste is still kushy.

no idea if this is 100% true(confirmation would be great), i found it on another forum

OG Kush, Bubba Kush and The West Coast Dog.

In late '93 John from Grass Valley Ca. got the Chem Dog cut. He shared it with me, Jerry(cowboy) from Dibble Creek Ca. and Harold(Putz) from Sunset Beach Ca. Putz had a male he called the secret ingredient. It was a cross of Lemon Thai and an Old World Paki Kush. Putz bred the secret ingredient to the Chem Dog. The buds that came out of this cross were going around So. L.A. county in '95. Someone told Putz that Kush must be so good because it was mountain grown. Putz laughed and told him "this Kush is Ocean Grown Kush bro". The tag stuck and it became known as OG Kush. In the spring of '96 Putz married a girl from New Zealand. Before moving there he sent cuts of his OG to me and Bob(beans) in Salinas Ca. He gave all his P1 stock and all the remaining seed he had to Mike(mad dog) from Downey Ca. In late '96 Mike sold some seed to some guys in the Valley. That's where the San Fernando Valley cut of OG comes from. It's like the Original only more sat in pheno type. Mike sold a cut of the original to a guy in Orange county and that cut is called Larry today. It's still around Orange county. Mike sent one other cut of the original OG to a breeder in Europe. As far as I know he never let anyone else have it.
Jerry bred his Chem Dog cut to a Humboldt county indica boy. This was the beginning of his cubing proccess. At BX3 he got a pheno that had all the smell, taste and kick of the Chem Dog, but in a pure indica pheno. Jerry gave this plant to Bob. It became known as the West Coast Dog.
Bob bred this plant to my Old World Kush male. He took a male from that cross and bred it to the OG cut Putz had sent him. This is what made the original Bubba Kush.

^All the knew kushes are not pour kushes, but they are really really good! The real ones are from the hindu kush mountains. It is a fantastic landrace strain, that is extremely euphoric, and you should add it to your garden.

interesting info steve french.( i couldnt help but notice that your cannada has 2 n's in it too). i too would like a confirmation but it sounds pretty cool either way. i know that in general kush is hindu kush from the mountains of the same name. i know that commercially available there is master kush, as well as a few others and i am wondring if the seeds on the market today would be an acurate representation of these same qualities that are recognized in the clones circulating today. it is ridiculas the amount of kush spinoffs there are floating around, to the point that you cant really believe it is more than a marketing plot by by dealers unless you know the real kush smell which was mentioned earlier. before i tried kush i heard it described as so unique that once you smell it you will always recognize it. that earthy spicy, just cant put your finger on it smell. i have had kush from 4 different sources and they have all had the same or very similar smell. it is hard to believe even clone sources as they may not even know themselvs, yet they will give it a name just to play the name game, so i want to start out with seeds that are true and verified. anyone who has tried kush knows how it lives up to its hype which is what impressed me.

That information you found is the most legitimate thing ive heard.

On all acounts ive heard its a chem cross, and with that paki kush being in the back ground it only accounts for the name, and the lemon flavor from the thai only makes sense.

With all of this said, I dont know the true story and this could be a really good fabrication from someone who has no idea what the truth is.

BTW I had no idea the larry was a og kush phenotype. But i knew the sfv was from seed or selfed seed, or even less likely a cross of og back crossed to the og clone...

ANyways this is what im storing in my memory.:joint::joint::abduct:

Anyone have any experience with Purple Kush? I have two clones of it OD that a freind gifted me. I never smoked it, but he said it was a let down. The least powerful Kush he has had (and he has smoked a few, most with me). I am hoping it was chopped a bit early as he said there were very few amber trichs.

what do ya'll think of it?

my kush is the real deal OG clone, yours is obviously an S1 or cross... Therefor my kush is better than your kush!

OG Kush is good stuff. It isn't like 10x more powerful than any other weed though as people would have you believe, nor is it a plant I would grow if I could only choose 1 strain to grow. Just a good strong afghani. I'd bet my testicles it doesn't have thai in there, no way to get a 17-23 week flowering sativa into a 55-60 day flowering time.

Kush comes from the mountains of pakistan and how you spell it is academic because its english spelling from a pakistani word. Pretty much pure afghan landrace is hindu kush which translates to hindu killer. Named as such because the pakistanis have had holy wars on and off with the indians for hundreds of years.

lemon thai has a flowering time of 8 -10 weeks... there is a rare pheno that goes 13 weeks (from all sources i can find..)

and it says og kush is:

(paki kush x lemon thai) x chemdawg

which means the thai is probably not very dominant in the cross.... i have no trouble thinking you could get it down to 60 days flowering time with some good breeding'

so from the info here and further research, it seems that much of what is refered to in our circles is not pure kush but crosses of different kinds with some percentage of kush( as in an afghani pure kush from the hindu kush mountains). does that sound correct?

sorry folks but i have to bring this back. the kush i have been getting has been the absolute best medicine i have come across to date in that, when i smoke it i feel a completness within myself that words cant explain. almost like a missing link. i feel like a whole person when i smoke it. i know it is kush but i dont know what kush it is. i have had bud in the past which i may have to say was stronger so to speak but never more complete. i suffer from major depression and more which i wont elorborate on, which i am pharmacutically medicated for, which for the most part works well but kush in my life rounds it out to perfection. i also tend to believe that with this kush i could taper down and eliminate my pills all together. another strange thing about it is, with most weed no matter the strength, i smoke 4-6 j's a day and stay pleasant. with the kush i can smoke 2 for the most part, sometimes 3 in the same period of time . so almost half the amount. damn......kush.

honestly, i'm sick of all the 'kush' crosses out there. it just seems everyone is crossing with or calling it kush. whether it is or not. don't get me wrong the real deal kushs' are great, but seems like more often than not people are just using the name for the sale... and yes i have real kush experience. i just want to see more diversity out there. sorry for the rant...

i cant tell if this thread is real or not?
Anyways, i have been growing kush since the day i started growing. ive grown nothing else. i also smoke nothing but kush. not because im one of those "kush only" dudes, its just the best for your dollar and its VERY easy for me to get. ive tried just about every kush you can name.

so, what is it you wanted to know about kush, exactly?
i know nothing of its birth, just everything else probly.
