What's new

78 days flowering and counting?

:1help: I have a sativa pheno of Blue Mystic, that is now going on 11 weeks 1 day today. It's supposed to be a mostly indica strain but.... The trics im pretty sure are cloudy, some of the buds even look like they have tiny salt crystals on them. I however see no amber, no hint of amber, at all. Wtf? Isn't 11 weeks is quite long for a hybrid?

I believe whereas most strains will get amber trichs, some may not. I've only had one do this, but I let it go and go and it was straight indica all others finished around 8 weeks, but this went 11 weeks no amber and it was foxtailing like crazy..

I would try and employ other methods as well.. It is cloudy..
What kind of light is it under?

It's outside of its flowering chamber sot he pics wouldn't screw up the lights. It's under a 400 watt HPS ("blue spectrum enhanced") light. What would other methods be? Don't know if it's 'cloudy' per-say. Looks different than the 'when to harvest' pics to me. But when i look under a 30x microscope they aren't translucent. A very tiny percent, maybe 5% are kinda whiteish.

are you sure you didn't have a light leak? I had one and it made my plants delay a whole bunch. They're on like day 80 or so now, and still have a bit to go. Once I fixed the light leak there were big changes, lots of new pistils, swelling, etc.. If you haven't really checked carefully, you should ASAP. Otherwise, perhaps you've fed them too much nitrogen? My Purple Haze is a long-flowering strain and it is VERY touchy with nitrogen, even in veg. Just a couple ideas anyway.

She received too much N was the general concensus on another thread. There is a slight light leak about 9ft away, but it's not much light, when i stand in the closet with the light off i cant see my hand or anything else near the plants, so less light than the moon would put out...it's really faded because the actual leaks are hidden with a ghetto mylar+showercurtain blanket i put over it.

um... i dunno, too much nitrogen in flower for sativas makes for more leaf production, not very desireable, but i dunno if it actually delays for weeks the flowering period?
i think you just got a very sativa dominant phenotype, what is blue mystic made of anyway?

blueberry has a bunch of pure sativas in the mix, maybe one of those phenotypes reached your way... all i hear about the most sativa dominant blueberries is good stuff, so it should be good smoke, worry not, dry it nicely and cure it real well though

Just FYI, my light leak was so slight that I had to kill all other light and seal up my closet to figure it out. It doesn't take much. The moon puts out a really specific type of light which plants have adjusted to ignore. Even a little stray light from man-made lights is enormously worse for them than the moon. Like others have said though, maybe you got the wrong seeds. The plant is beautiful though, hope it hurries up for you!

I've also got a blue mystic. She is my mother plant and has been vegging for 4-5 months now. I have her trimmed to a shrub, and she is really bushy and starting to get some height. I started her out in a 4" square pot, then to a OJ carton with the top cut off. I just put here into a 5gallon nursery pot. I believe BM is a cross of Blueberry and a skunk. My girl has a very unique scent to her. The leaves are very small, and she looks mostly indica Dominant. Im really hoping for the blue hues at flower. Please give us a smoke report after harvest and cure.. I would advise u to cure these buds the correct way if u want to bring out an berry flavors the bud might contain.

My two cents:

Nirvana's seeds seem very 'sativaish" to me.

Light leeks can slow the onset of amber.

I assume a 90 day flower on all plants I grow (If I were to grow something with a known short flower period, then yes a shorter time would be in order. Most strains with an unsustained tour under a harvest "sun" {600w HPS in my case} just do not have the potency I'm looking for. They are f%@*ing weak.)

Will be harvesting a NLxShiva (nirvana) at about 75 days (too early but it's container is small so returns will diminish if I go longer). Need to make room for my premier cuttings of LA Con. This LA Con is a 100+ day plant at least. Worth every second.

SHORT FLOWER TIMES (60 DAYS??!!) ARE MARKETING.

Sorry to bury the bi-line.

A perpetual harvest system has helped my lack of patience.

The last few weeks are when the girls really get their game on, letting them hang out under 12/12 until full maturity will be soooooo worth it, harvesting early will be a disappointment

Actually, nitrogen toxicity does delay flowering time quite a bit. I had a blue Sat/OGKush that is a 70 day finisher, but I never saw an amber trich until 90 days. The plant also went through some nitrogen toxicity with excessive leaf production.
