Friend Busted: Am I at risk?

IC community, please share your knowledge and experience with me. I need it.

Someone I know had plants growing on their roof and had shown them to me multiple times. I even helped him transplant them. At worst, the cops have the following on me:

1) Photos of me with the plants/carrying the plants

2) Fingerprints on the buckets

3) Hopefully not, but maybe the friend would rat me out?

The way I see it, this is all circumstantial, I didn't even know what the plants he was showing me were, and they were on his property. I'm not a lawyer, nor experienced, so please share your wisdom, cuz i'm scared as fuck.

Here's the real deal..
1) Your friend is a moron for putting pot plants on his roof. I mean, he might as well hung a huge banner over his front lawn the read " Screw you cop's, I'm growing weed over here".
2) If you have a choice in the matter, never let anyone take your picture doing anything you don't want other people to see. The cops may not be able to get a warrant with just the pics, but they will sure as hell watch you if they do see them.
3)Worrying about your finger prints is pretty much a waste of time. They already caught someone, so why would they waste time "printing" every last container(there are two exceptions to this 1)way too many plants for just one person to take care of and they think he has partners, or 2)He denies knowing that they were up there, and can't the cops prove it other wise-only valid if it is an apartment complex or the like)
4) Unless you have a grow going the cops won't give a crap about you, and ratting on you would be a waste of time(what could he benefit from it?).

apparently the cops think I was involved, from what I've been told by those interviewed. Does that make you think differently? And I didn't let anyone take my picture. The cops--who knows if they're telling the truth-- say they have been watching the house for a week, which is when they would have taken pictures.

Deny deny deny

You gave those buckets to your buddy, that'd explain the fingerprints
You helped him with tomatoes, or so you thought, that'd explain the pics

Deny!

Thanks Arctic and Godzilla. I am for sure crapping my pants. And that is indeed my going story. Question is basically, can I just claim I was ignorant of what they were, and say that I/we didn't know what they were? Can't even begin to convey to you guys how much i appreciate the input

In my opinion, the cops don't really have anything on you. Anytime the cops have questioned me it was because the didn't have actual evidence. They don't need actual evidence if you confess.

When/if they get real evidence you will know it because you will hear those jailhouse doors slam.

Deny everything as you were advised by ArticBlast.

This was told to me by an old outlaw:

Admit nothing
Deny everything
Make counter accusations.

Following those three rules is the reason I am not in prison.

^-- More on this.

Photos of me with the plants/carrying the plants <- That is ridiculous. A few years back a guy on CC got busted since he was keeping pics of his setup on his work computer. Well anytime his laptop loaded into the network at work I guess it uploaded his work he had been doing so the IT guys got these pics alerted his boss and was fired. Pics of certain things are just baaaad ideas.

(no offense to ArticBlast)

Don't say anything to the cops. If they have you they'll bust you. Anything less amounts to potential violation of your rights. You have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you.

Cops don't show their cards in a way you'll easily defend with lying. They want you to tell them a story so they can blow a hole in it. Then they want you to get nervous so they can lie to you and say yer buddy has already dropped dime and the best you can do is to come clean.

These fucks don't play by any rules. All they want is to establish a dialog with you, then use it to their advantage. Yer story makes you feel legit and cooperative. The first hole they poke makes you appear nervous. Any inconsistencies will be repeatedly hammered, exponentially increasing the opportunity for more inconsistencies. Then you clam up completely and appear uncooperative. More inconsistencies.

The best thing to tell them is nothing. If they charge you, only talk to your lawyer. If they don't charge you, ask them if you're free to go. good luck

Its pretty simple. Do not admit to anything. Deny all accusations made by the police and make accusations, against the police, of your own.

Doing that does not always get you out of trouble but it doesn't get you into any more.

Explaining yourself gets you into more trouble. Its hard to explain illegal activity without inadvertently confessing to something illegal. If you tell the cops that those were your friend's plants that you were carrying you just confessed to "conspiracy to manufacture a cont. subst." - a felony around these parts.

You are better off accusing the police of doctoring photos. Or say that the plants belonged to the police force and that you were asked by an officer to move the plants.

I have always used these methods and I had quite a few run ins with the police during my youth. A lot of the people I ran with in those days went to prison. I did not. I would say that 80% of the prison population helped the prosecution convict them by admitting to a crime. If you don't admit anything then the police have to do their job. Often they will move on to easier prey in the case of something so minor if you make a big stink. :nanana:

Rule 1 Shut up
Rule 2 Shut up
Rule 3 Shut up...Do you see where this is going? There is absolutely nothing you can say that will help you. period. the end.

And the friend has to go. Put a contract on him today.

Seriously tho, The cops will tell you they have pictures of your mom and your kids with plants... they dont. If they had anything you would have seen Judge Judy already. Let your buddy know you love him and if he keeps his mouth shut he'll live.

TreAndCat... I don't think they really have all that on you... iIf they had all that they wouldn't need to folow you or even tell you.. They would have charged you.. They just say that shit so you will confess.. I doubt it's true at all.. Don't worry but be safe for alittle while.. Why would they fingerprint pot plants they found at a residence??? They might fingerplant a plant they found in the woods... But not at a house because clearly whoever is at the house is the one who is guilty... If you have only been questioned and not formally charged I wouldn't worry... If they do arrest you then stay quiet lawyer up and you will be fine.. At most they have you on possesion.... And since they were your friends plants that proves they were his not yours so you can beat that...

I was in a similar situation in which someone who I was involved/ hanging out with with got raided and when the cops looked at their recent calls on their cellphone they had my number dialed in several times right before the raid, he said they asked who I was and he said just a friend and that was it.

I don't grow or sell and this was roughly 6months to a year ago and I haven't had any contact with him since. Since then I have had no contact from any police agencies but that's not to say that they aren't keeping an eye on you or having you under surveillance for a while.. I'm sure they probably looked you up and if you have a clean record then they probably dropped anything involving you..

TreandKat-
You just found out the plants were weed right? And you all you did was help transplant them? So what.. I doubt they will come for you, if they do, tell them you had no idea it was weed, you were just helping a buddy out.

And how many people are they interviewing that you are talking to?

I'm going to be honest with you. If your friend signs a statement and tells them it was your grow, along with his, you will get arrested to. If he signs a statement that you helped take care of them you will probably get arrested. If he tells them you had nothing to do with them you're good to go....

As previously stated they're going to lie and lie and LIE. About you, friends, family, you name it. Scare tacticts to get you to either crack and snitch on your friend or admitt to breaking the law. It's one of the 1st things they try in their "bag of tricks"
