Organic tea equipment? Too much pump for my bucket?

So I read that more oxygen is better so is this a good choice for a pump? I've read 50 litres a min is optimum but this is 10 litres more..

35 Watt Single Outlet Air Commercial Grade Air Pump

* Includes 6-outlet attachment
* 35 watts
* 60 Liter/minute
* 3.9 PSI
* Use 3/8" Inside Diameter vinyl tubing
* Very quiet and extremely powerful
* 1-year warranty

And I also gleaned that a good airstone is worth the investment for better oxygen dispersion and this is the air stone I picked out to start making my own teas and go 100% organic. What do you guys think?

I have no idea how all of this is going to function when placed into a 5 gal bucket so any hands on experience info is welcome! Thanks a lot :D

You can only dissolve so much oxygen into the solution. I use a two outlet pump just so I can bubble two buckets at once. Get the cheap air stones. They get clogged and need to be replaced regularly.

- you have to change diaphrams in those pumps, not sure how often if you only use it 1 day every so often,, just know they require replacement parts

-I love those air stones, once again not sure how they work for teas, but the best airstones I've ever come across

-I would suggest KIS brewers, unless you don't have money / are a hardcore DIY'er. There is simplicity in not worrying how your tea will turn out when working with known sources

- this is the only other thing I can suggest if making your own bubbler

I went out and bought a pretty big pump too and I never use it. I've got me a dual diaphragm cheapy that is maxing my buckets and I pretty much use it for everything else too. Too much power and I think you're just heating the water. :2cents:

Alright you guys have convinced me to go the cheap route. Usually with this equipment it pays to spend but I will try this and hopefully get good results. Gonna go to the store tomorrow :D

I basically have the same system that you're looking to put together, 40AmpstoFreedom. The only real difference is that the pump is the next size up, i.e. 80 liters per minute of air.

Had I to do do it over again, I would buy the KIS brewer for a couple of reasons.

1. It's 'plug & play'

2. It out performs other tea brewers costing 4x as much (like the junk from Growing Solutions)

3. It's been field tested by the folks at Soil Food Web and they highly recommend it

4. Customer service from the manufacturer is up and beyond what normally passes for 'customer service' these days. Emails are answered the same or next day by the folks there who know their products and the best methods to use.

5. Their after-market products, i.e. pure humic acid, seaweed extract, tea brewing bags of the correct mesh to keep the fungai strands intact, pre-mixed tea breweing solutions, etc. are some of the best available and are very affordable.

Well worth the $140.00 that they charge for their 5-gallon brewer.

YMMV
