cheap CFL fixture? where to buy?

I was browsing homedept and they have plenty of cfl bulbs but i can only find the large bulky wired enclosed floodlight fixtures that run like $80-120 a pop. I just need a basic fixture

where can i get a simple screw in cfl fixture with a plugin like many of you micro guys use? dose homedepo or walmart have them?
I need a fixture i can use with a 65-100watt cfl.

please :1help: me

thanks

Unless you want to drop some cash on a bathroom fixture (just multiple incandescent outlets, which also doubles for spiral screw in CFL's) you are going to have to make a fixture for your lights.

You can buy the outlets themselves for about 80-90 cents each (At just about anywhere, I got mine at Lowe's, but they are most definitely available at Home Depot, etc, etc), then you will have to wire everything yourself though, search the Forums, there are a bunch of guides on how to properly wire in parallel, Freezerboy has a good picture that he displays up on the threads occasionally that properly shows parallel lighting.

Ive found the easiest way is to buy the little adaptors that allow you to screw in your bulb, and then plug it into an outlet. Get a power strip plug a few lights in and your good to go. Its the same thing that you're looking for.

donkey puch can't view the links. says it's not availble in store i'm viewing...??

dimebagg waht are those adapters called? I'm looking for the most basic and simple plug in fixture. they make plugin fixtured for the tube flos so why not the cfls?

what about those plug in portable clamp/hanging lamps that comstruction workers use? do they make those in cfl?

Search for "Lampholder" on homedepot, and tell me if that's what you are talking about...

If all you are finding are the floodlight fixtures, that might be because you are looking in the lighting section of Casa Depot. In my local HD the simple ceramic outlets, splitters, etc. are over in the electrical section with the junction boxes, wiring, etc. Odds are they will have what you are looking for, but you might have to look around to find it.

ID SAY JUST ORDER ONE OF THEESE AND BE DONE WITH IT, IT JUST MY OPINION BUT IM CURRENTLY USEING A FEW CLF AND IT A HEADACHE , ALWAYS GOTTA DICK AROUND WITH PLANTS GROWING AND THEN U HAVE TO ADJUST EITHER THE LIGHT OR STACK SHITE UNDER THE POTS TO LIFT THEM UP OR LOWER THEM...BETTER TO HAVE ONE UNIT U CAN RAISE UP, I THINK THIS LITE A GREAT DEAL AND PUT OUT 10000 LUMES TO. JUST MY TWO CENTS,BAHT,ERUOS, FUTURE AMEROS....:joint:

I prefer the fixtures that hang vertically and hold to bulbs horizontally, ya know the old school kind that those big square pieces of glass hang on to by that little nut? seemed to be an easy way to mount horizontal bulbs without having to attach to the walls.

I couldn't find a link...and they were hard to find at lowe's but I found them on the ceiling by the chandeliers and light fixtures...just look for the cheapest one with a square glass piece on it, they're like 6$. I'm sure homedePOT or any lighting store should carry them.

they're a little more pricey..like 5-7$ compared to the 1-2$ single mount ones, but it's less wires to hook up. You still have to wire it, which is as simple as cutting an extension cord and screwing it to the terminals

I just used an extension cord and plugged right into the socket adapter like DonkeyPunch linked earlier

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100170446

That's what I'm using in the PC box and taping the extension cord to the roof of the box so it hangs decently. They sells these at almost any hardware store, I picked mine up at Walmart for under $2

Sorry just read you can't open the links

Outlet to Socket Adapter is what it is called and it's literally you screw in the light bulb, plug into a socket, and you have light.

More than likely you purchased a Mogul bulb and a Medium Base.. they look the same, but Mogul is a bit bigger.. The answer will cost you about $5 but you can buy a Medium to Mogul base adapter from HD and then just plug your light in.

okay so i need a mogul adapter? and that will fit any normal fixure i have? what dose a mogul adaper look like and what section of the hardware store is it in? electrical or lighting section? i looked around but couldn't find anything. of course it would help if i knew what to look for.....

I'm using the TCP 68watt cfl.

thanks again

easy here's what i did.

get this

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=157380-22685-4738-05&lpage=none

they make it with only 3 bulbs also. i think i paid 10$-ish.

then...strip an extension cable end, wire the two cables to the fixture hot/cold and plug into the wall. easy breezy.

change the bulbs according to how hot things get in the box. im using 3x23w cfl. equivalent of 300w.

e

edit: you can remove everything from that fixture so it's just the sockets. less space too. finally, with a dremel, i sawed off the edges so it'd fit in top of a pc case. nice and snug.

Check out the pics throughout my aborted grow. I used a three bulb bathroom vanity fixture that I purchased for $9 at Wal-Mart. Add $6 for a three prong cord, $1 for some wire nuts, and $3 for some "Y" adapters...I had a schweet little fixture that I built for less than $20.

I made a reflector out of some spare plywood from my cab and that was that!

Good luck!
