Thanks for the comments Cmoon, Foothillsfarmer and Crtoker/Zigzag. That's excellent news BushDr will save it before that site goes down lol j/k.
Whodi, check out the site BushDr mentions the grow is there.

Osirica420, thanks man but I really doubt i'll get the gpw with this grow due mainly to something I'll show in a minute, some plants may have 3oz on them but one or two don't look it it's my first time with any kind of hydro and first vert so can't complain. Not having the extraction above the light has been a problem for me too with the weather changing.

Thanks HGO post away man, no it's just an average 12" industrial fan off ebay cost about 30quid I think. You want to get the best one you can afford though as it's an important part.

So over the last week or two I've been too busy to pay any attention to the plants apart from watering but the other day I noticed a few of these horrible things

picture.php

I reckon these are caused by too much intense light in late flower or light leaks and also overfeeding contributes to it but my ec has been 1.0 - 0.8 the last couple of weeks and I'm running the lights through the day to avoid light leaks at night. The buds that aren't directly facing the screen are all fine

Most of the side bud tops are like this, real pain in the arse,

they could have used all that energy fattening buds instead. To solve it I've just turned all the plants 180 ddegrees so now they're leaning away from the light they're also a good few inches further away. I think in the future I'll move plants back 5-6 inches two thirds of the way through flower with, sativa varieties anyway.

this top is thick as my forearm and rock solid and looks like it'll be done enough by day 70, beginning to throw a few nanners but this late on it's not an issue

bit of frost from a more sat leaning pheno

in the bottom left here you can see the fucked up tops on the side buds, looks like a reveg. Some of the calyxes closest to the light went purple on this pheno.

These are all on day 64 today and will get another 10 days and then hung intact upside down for 4 days while they die then I'm moving to a new place. They could go a week or two longer I think but it's worked out well as they are fat and already more than strong enough.

Will be back with better pics at harvest time, have fun folks.

Looks like overfeeding. Dunno what nutrients you are using but perhaps you shoulda cut the micro /(nitrogen) in half weeks ago and should be using bloom nutes only by now. Maybe you're fine with your nute program, but just throwing that out as a suggestion.

Those buds look pretty. peace SC :joint:

Yeah Bush I'm just waiting another few days and they'll be down, if I was putting another lot in I'd chop now but I'm stopping for a while to scope out the new place. I've chopped off all those stretchy things and hopefully the remaining buds'll mature a little. It's a shame as they were developing perfectly, need to experiment more for these nearly pure sats. They could really use another 2 weeks at least but needs must. Some of the tester buds have been very racy, heart attack material.

Jack you put the extract above the bulb so 12" blows the hot air into it, this is the most important part for keeping temps down. What bulb are you using with a 4" fan?

Whodi, I've been overfeeding from the start having never grown in coco before I just used the ppms I see other people on the boards using aiming for around 1.6 but have found out over the grow that's way to much. I'm at 0.7 ec just now and they're just beginning to show deficiencies. You may remember from previous posts I've also been using one res for all the plants, being seedplants they all have different requirements etc. not to mention changing nutes half way through, drowning my ec pen and so on and yes of course I've been using flowering nutes during flower.
Are you talking about the stretching buds by the way? I'm pretty sure it's caused by too much light late in flower, it's only happening on parts of the buds that were close to and driectly facing the light. It happens a lot with sativas due to them maturing late in the year when the sun would be low in the sky.

im guna use a mh bulb....and the fan for the 400 is a inline fan idrk wat ....but yea just tht n a carbon scrubber,,,i have a 12 fan pointed up in the middle and a buncha other fans i have if need be...but wta you mean by extract cuz the 4 is jkst ment to keep smell from leakin thts off to side i jst wna kno wat other fan i need othr thn the 12 cuz ive never rly tried a grow like this b4...i hope tht makes sense lol im high n cant thnk how to word shit lol

F

fully baked

also been forgetting to mention that over the last week or so I've been increasing the light on times which are now at 14 hours on so an extra 2 hours a day of light which should shorten flower times by a few days. Still an untested theory but a good one imo.

I think this is the reason for your stretching buds. The plant is trying to revert to vegetative growth due to the longer days.

They look wonderful otherwise. Congrats.

Cheers,

How do you hold the wire cage in place?

Don't think I see chains from the ceilings in BushDr's or SuperConductor's posts.

Do they just stand in place on their own? Clamp them to the floor somehow?

My SSH is doing a very similar thing, I think these girls would be helped by cutting the lights to 10 on during the last couple weeks.

My cage is suspended on chains from the ceiling, with hooks so I can move it

bumpity bump bump bump...

lets see a update! i wanna see the backside of the plants after the inner most nugs have matured. in my experience the shaded nugs are just not as good. still better quality over all compared to horizontal lighting.

i got new pics of my 400w v-scrog in my thread in sig. check it out! drop a line or two. i'm doing the same thing as you but vegging longer and only flowering the tips of the plant(s). i'm shocked how well it is working out.

I just found this thread. Nice work SC.
I have done vert grows before and had great results. This is from a grow last year with a 400w HPS. There are many more pics in my gallery and in my signature

Nice work Marlo .... no cage tho' .... any reason particular?

Never thought of usin a cage. I had 2 stakes per pot and used some fuzzy pipe cleaners to pull the plants away from the light. The 400w allows me to get pretty close w/o any issues.
