We know our mothers. If they don't like weed, don't be smoking in their house and in their yard. Kid went out of his way to be intentionally, monumentally stupid and was properly rewarded.

Don't smoke stupid.

Sounds like something my mom would say and in a way your right you should respect them enough to push that pt. but it did doesn't mean she should come with an equally as drastic response considering she's probably 20 years his Senior thought she would have learned something by then.

She probably also believes every single bit of propaganda she has been fed for those 37 years. Marijuana is bad, m'kay? Just like heroin, crack and meth.

Yes but not her fault. For all she knew, her son was about to do something crazy, like eat the neighbor's baby. Too bad the truth is not widely known. That said, this kid was acting like a nimrod and probably deserved it.

No one deserves to have the cops called on them for weed, period!

wow..... Does sound like something that would happen in houma though. We've got some real smart people down here, the kind that do stuff without thinking about the future...

Chances are they have a bit of money and dont give 2 shits about scholarships

I must state, this kid did do something that most likely wasn't his best course of action. Yet I still assert that no one deserves that, especially from their mother. Any other situation factored in still does not allow for such action. He had no weapon or other drugs on him when arrested and was at home on his front porch. Most thugs or troubled kids don't hang around at home waiting for mom to show up.

No scholarships, grants, or even loans. The misdemeanor charge for pot has a huge effect on our higher education bound citizens.

I'm not saying Mom did the right thing. I'm saying the kid got down on his knees and bawled like a baby at the top of his voice to be busted and locked up. He got what he begged for. If he didn't want to be busted, he shouldn't have gone out of his way to demand it.

Mom may have helped him along but, this is pilot error. Don't smoke stupid.

Stupid, stupid people.

That is true! They can't tell a damn difference, without actually thinking. I can understand her calling the cops, for him disrespecting her. I would have at least been smart enough to hide and sneak, not light up or let some stoner friends over. My parental units never called the cops on me, but they threatened more than once and they have called other authorities. They were the type, to always send me to counseling and believe it was all my fault. Of course, kicking the shit out of your kids since they were very young is not a great start on the drug issue. I know, weed right? They think your going to be shooting up pure heroin any day, mostly I think they just love to be spit polished parents. Mostly to cover up their low self esteem and cowardly position in society.

To parents,:nanana:; to think of the things people on this site could be doing other than cannabis.....

wow if my mother did this to me she should be afraid for her life when I got back home.

Newsflash tough guy...your mom brought your sorry ass into this world and will love you no matter what you do.
Sometimes that love can be be tough but it's always for the best even if you dont know it or want to know it.

I would say what sort of man are you but me thinks you are but a stupid kid who is probably not old enough to be a part of this forum.

I pity your poor mom having a kid with an attitude like yours.

Not trying to be funny but he has a great pt. I would condone an ass whooping for my dad but I wouldn't dare hit my mom if I had been stuck in a situation like this kid. "Oh well life's a bitch that's why we get high, cause you never know when your going to go." Nas- Represent

At 37 there is no excuse for such ignorance. She should have known better. He was at home with friends, not stealing cars and making other people's lives a misery. That woman has personal issues that she needs to address. With a mother like that, is it really any wonder the kid felt the need for a few tokes. Betrayal of a family member is on the list of very low things to do.

Probably a reason the kid was under curfew? the articule is a bit sparce on details who knows maybe this was the straw that broke the camels back.

Kid was what 16 and still in school i'd imagine no business toking in the first place.

Not saying the mom was right to ring the cops but nobody on this site knows the full story so lets not be so quick to judge.

I understand he is underage, so concern is appropriate, but calling the fuzz on your kid. I'm sure she doesn't know how negatively this will affect his life. Much more so than that bag of pot ever could have.

The woman is clearly ignorant, I would also like to know how he can be breaking curfew if he's on his own driveway? sounds like 5-0 trying to pin more shit on someone to me, i hate the fuckers, they seem like assholes in the states.

Edit: cookies.

Well to be the devil's advocate we don't know the relationship between the mother and kid. Him smoking pot right in front of her was not only stupid but also very disrespectful. I'm not saying that turning him in for something that should be legal (FOR ADULTS!) was the right thing to do but we all face repercussions for our actions and bottom line was this kid and his friends were assholes for not being discreet. His mom may have called the cops but the person responsible for him getting busted was his own dumbass self. It's all about taking responsibilty for your own actions, if the kid can't get into college it isn't his mom's fault, she wasn't the dumbass standing in plain sight commiting an illegal act. If the kid is too stupid to be discreet it's kinda doubtful that he even has to worry about getting in college, lol. I hate coming off so harsh sounding but it's too easy to pass off responsibilty for our own actions. When I got popped growing a couple years back, it wasn't the health inspector's fault for calling the cops when he smelt my grow it was my own damn fault for not running a tight ship. Herb laws may be a joke but they are the law and until that changes we have to face reality and act accordingly and not blame other people when we fuck up.

I'm sorry, but I am a parent and I can't simply throw this lady under the bus like most of you have. We do not know the whole story. Maybe Jr was compromising moms grow and had been warned? Maybe he already made things so she had to tear her grow down? It is really nobody's business but mom and jr's anyway.

I hate when people get involved in other peoples parenting.

in the realm of us not knowing what the background story is i agree with you whole heatedly, none of us know what the background story was, but lets look at things from what your saying

- say she did tell him to stop because of the grow she has? why would you want the cops coming into your home, wanting to search shit, and more than likely have dogs or some shit to aide in the search? by inviting the cops dont you think you would jeopardize your own shit? so heres the thing, hes your kid, so YOU handle it!!! dont leave it up to someone else to handle it.

and like you said its between mom and jr. right? so then, why the cops?

when i was growing up i had one lawyer, judge, defendant, bailiff and plaintiff and that was mom; only cop /executioner in my fam growing up was dad plain and simple. if dad isn't present then hey, you've got teachers, counselors and the like and all they would have had to do was talk to the cat.

picture this scenario: your teacher tells you that you have detention out of the clear blue, and its a teacher that your cool with, your waiting there and then the teacher shows up, after sometime then your mom shows up its just you three in the room, then the teachers starts everything off with, "your mom saw you smoking point in the drive way the other night and she is concerned for you". if that doesnt work then off to boot camp. all anyone here is saying, there are a myriad of alternatives to calling the cops

but no matter what, NO MATTER WHAT!! cops are a hellacious no no, we all have parents so we can all put ourselves in this kids shoes.

ok better yet: WHO HERE WOULD CALL THE COPS ON THEIR OWN CHILDREN AND FOR WHAT REASON(S)?

FiD, I didn't look at the story, and don't plan to. But, we simply don't know the circumstances. Anything could be taking place. Who knows? Maybe he has been slapping mom around...seen worse. And cops aint the devil incarnate, contrary to popular belief. Most probably are dickheads from what I've seen, but others are decent people that live in our society.

Maybe my scenario's weren't the best...but who really cares?
Mom did indeed take care of business apparently.
Maybe mom doesn't toke, and has had her own security compromised by Jr smoking dope on her property when she had asked him not? Do we disrespect people because they chose not to smoke weed? I sure don't.

BTW...you youngins still at home...you do dig that that aint your crib, yes?
