Having Problems

So, I went to check on one of my plots, and the plants aren't much bigger if at all than when I transplanted them a month ago. They're like 5 inches tall and a couple inches wide, but they are still alive. I started them indoors under flouros for 3 weeks and then transplanted them a month ago so they are about 7 weeks old. I think I messed something up when starting them under flouros but I'm really not sure. The stain is ICE from female seeds. The soil mix is half manure and half peat moss with water polymer crystals and lime. We've been getting plenty of rain here. Anyone have a clue where I went wrong cause I have no idea. My best guess is I mess them up when they were seedlings. It didn't seem like they got as big as they should have for 3 week old seedlings. When I put them out at 3 weeks they were a few inches tall and a couple inches wide. Maybe my soil mix isn't airy enough?

is that my problem?? My soil mix is one 3.8 cu. ft. bale or spaghnum peat moss, 10 40 pound bags of manure/humus mix, and like 15 pounds of lime.. with a little native soil but not much.
Anything I can do to help them?
Will they start growing at some point?
Should I start some new seeds?

This sucks, I've invested tons of time scouting spots, digging holes, and lugging materials. Plus, all the money I invested in seeds and materials. My first outdoor crop, I grew 8 foot durbans.. and I've grown sucessfully indoors doing hydro and soil. My last outdoor try I got them up a couple feet and someone found them. I just don't understand what went wrong this time. I thought my soil mix would be perfect... but of course, I'm the one here with issues so maybe this mix isn't so perfect.

Could be overwatering. Can you get a pic for us ?

Also 15lbs of Lime sounds like alot, maybe it has raised the PH too high.

It has been raining like twice a week or so.. Im using water polymer crystals which is suppose to help from overwatering... but I guess that could be a problem. I haven't done any watering by hand.

I read somewhere that it is hard to over use lime... which is why I used a lil more than was probably necessary.. the plants were green and only one had minor discoloration.. so I don't think the ph is off but I really don't know. Im leaning more toward overwatering or too dense of soil mix.

I've only checked on one of my plots.. I have like 8 more so maybe things are going better at my other plots. Plus, I have Himalaya Gold and SSH going at the other plots so maybe those strains are doing better.

a lot of people try to over complicate things. i have alway just used potting soil and have never had a problem. you can mix some of the things you have with the potting soil. that would be better. how thick of the soil you're using? you need some pretty light soil for root growth while they are still young. when they get bigger the roots will even go through some clay.

I actually tried to keep things simple... My soil mix is basically two things.. peat moss and manure with lime for ph control. This mix is much simpler than most soil mix recipes I've seen on this site. What kind of potting soil are you talking about? The cheap stuff or like miracle grow potting soil? My first outdoor grow I used something similar to MG potting soil and grew monsters. Only reason I didnt use it this time was because I tried to save money by putting together my own potting soil, but Im paying the price for being a cheapskate I guess. My second outdoor grow, I used Pro-Mix bx and things got off to a good start till they got found. Isn't Pro-mix mostly peat moss?? This was sort of what I was going for except I added manure and humus for nutrients. Maybe I should have added perlite?
I probably won't be making my own soil mix ever again though. I think I've learned my lesson. Thanks for the replies.

i use potting soil called perfect mix and i put enough mulch on the top to stop the sun from drying out the potting soil to fast. never had a problem with this in my 8 years.

sounds like if they've been out there for a month and they have a decent root structure started they could probably use some ferts, if all you have in there is manure. just a thought.

I'm starting to believe there is a combination of things going on.. too dense of soil... too much water... not enough sunlight... not big enough plants when I set them out... and who knows what else..

I guess Ill just have to ride things out and hopefully things just start growing... maybe later this month or july the rain will stop and the sun will come out and the plants roots will really start taking hold and who knows maybe I can turn some kind of yield. The plants did grow some from the time I transplanted... like a couple inches.. but Im not getting my hopes up.

I bought this huge thing of Miracle grow plant food thinking Id need a lot of it... not the case anymore... Bobby said to try ferting them.. anyone else think I should?

Next year, Ill being using that perfect mix stuff. Any time I've used premade potting soil, things have turned out well. Thanks again guys.

I grew them under flouros for the first 3 weeks after they popped out the soil... shouldnt be any heat issues.

Too much trouble to get pics, but they're about 5 inches tall and have green tops about two inches wide (if that) that seem to be starting to grow branches (not really branches, but new growth coming out the top), but for now they basically look like seedlings. The stem was dark and the two little side leaves (I think they are called something.. I dont know what) are dying off. Pretty pathetic... but the good news is they seem to be alive.
