Safety Inspection required is what the card I just took out of my mailbox from my utility company said, reading further it went on to say "If you do not call immediately, ************ energy will be required to take legal action to obtain access"
Oh fuck me, I just stand there at my mailbox reading the card, stomach sinking, party's over I guess.
So I go inside and I'm looking at it more and I realise it's from the fucking gas company, not electric, so I call, it's a gas meter inspection that takes a couple minutes in the basement, access is locked and they can't get in, hence the card, nothing to do with electricity, they won't even be on the same floor as the grow, let alone near the room, all good, but damn, for about 5 minutes I was pretty shook up.

I was kinda grouchy today before this happened, now I'm almost giddy, to feel that noose slip over your neck and then be lifted back off again, that will improve your mood I'll say.

Make sure you take extra smell precautions for that day.. Also keep your growroom doors locked... Make sure you don't smoke in the house for some days prior and keep nothing in plain view...

Separate door from outside that goes straight to the basement where meters are, but yes, all good ideas that I will do anyways.

like the card says, they tried to gain access which is worrysome
years ago, the gas and electric meter readers would just waltz into your home unannounced...still do I guess

I had that happen to me also. In my situation the gas meter was in the grow room and it was in use. I called them and put the inspection off for a month with out any problem. A month wasn't enough time to finish the grow and clean out the room so when the new inspection date was near (a week I think), I called again saying I was not going to be in town for that week and was able to put the date off another week.
When the inspection finally did happen it lasted less than five minutes. The inspector came with some sort of a hand held sniffer device that detected any gas line leaks.
She just waved it by the fittings around the meter and that was it. When I asked if she wanted to do the same thing by the furnace and water heater, which she had to pass to get to the meter she said she would but she would have to charge me to do so.
What a load of crap, they were only interested in leaks into or out of their meter, the rest be damned.

gas is cool because they add rotting corpse smell to it so people can smell it, because it's normally odorless. :joint:

I found out today that everyone on the block got a card just like mine, that makes me feel better, I kept thinking, maybe there just pretending to inspect the gas so they can get in and look around, lol, now I can rest my paranoid mind.
