My threads were merged without my permission. There were two distinct topics, and I gotta say, I'm not very happy about having my topics merged without even asking me. I've done a thread or two in my time, and I KNOW how to post and where, and why. Just because you have mod powers doesn't mean you should use them at every opportunity. Ask me, I know about this, I've been a respectful moderator since the early days of OG.

Yeah i thought they moved, Crazy, as i was posting and then 'post not found'.

As for the rocks matching the direction of the stream, I have multiple theories for them. Water is a powerful force and could have moved the rock would be my first theory, and not all streams have always flowed in the same direction or location as the earth is always moving, getting higher and lower in seemingly random places. Can't see where you got the rock or even know how long it's been there so the second is a stretch.

Why do you think it's a meteor? Just wondering if you see something in it that makes you think it is one.

The area I'm in is the #1 gold region in this part of the country. There's a river not far from here where people set up gold camps all summer long and make a living that way. Some don't, but many do just fine. :)

hit everything with a metal dectector. if its metor you will know.

Not 2 sure about the smaller dark stone. Thought the larger rock laying in H20 was just natural erosion, but then I saw the round markings that you pointed out later on. Kool shyte either way. Wish I lived next to a stream and some open wilderness. Id have a huge outdoor crop w/ a home-made irrigation system (im sure u already do :).

Yeah, a skinning tool . . . . and the rock in the river fell from the Mother Ship . . . no, sry, it had a fossilized crustacean or another small life form on it,

eons of erosion have removed the fossil by natural or unnatural means.

maybe, maybe not. I've been watching late night Discovery because of insomnia and they have been doing the 10,000 Years B.C. bit about early man and how man ended up in America. They focused on tools these people made.

Who knows?

I think the big rock is erosion, it could be some leaf or something, but the composition of the rock can have a profound effect on erosion patterns, for instance, if it is a sedimentary rock formed by seasonal sedimentation, you can get density variation in layers that will erode at different rates and leave a linear pattern that runs perpendicular to the original sediment layers, not the direction of water flow. Rocks can also get compressed while deep in the earth, causing their sediment patterns to fold and ripple.

Rocks are crazy in the northern regions where Glaciers covered all, you can basically find any kind of rock that exists north of you that was pushed down by the giant ice shovel and dropped of when they receded.

It blows my mind when I look up into the sky and realize there used to be over a mile of ice above my head. We have a lot of sandstone beaches here that still show the scrapes from the glacier, some of the formations here are so intricate and regular that you would swear they were made by something other than water, wind, and tiny rock penetrating organisms, but they weren't.

Hi CC,
interesting thread bro, that piece in the first pic i found something similar to it when i buried my dog when he passed away a few years ago now, this was in my garden,
dug a hole what must of been 3-4 foot deep, and found a shaped object similar to that except it was longer/more oblong + white,
the edges of it went into quite a sharp point with little indentations running around/along the edges (pretty much like it had been used as a type of tool which had been well used), definately wasn't just an 'ordinary stone' as it had perfect shape to it, that along with the worn indentations along the edges i'm convinced it was some form of old tool,
also being 3 foot + deep i'm guessing it's really old, never bothered to keep it tho, can't even remember what i done with it wheather i just threw it somewhere in the garden or put it back in the ground, i wish i kept it, would of been good to add it to your thread man:yes:

peace

HUH fossils in the little rock??? I see them in the big one Duh

So why, is the smaller one from the same rock?? I think not
or maybe the the mother ship did it:wallbash:

CC, the first pic is a scraper,as you thought. It shows signs of human work. Looks to be weathered obsidian or basalt. Second pic is probably just what KG said, erosion.

I just put it in my hand again and it seems custom fitted to a human hand. From where the thumb rests, to where the pinky finger goes. I scraped at my other palm and it was very effective. I think this may be the real thing, personally, although I can't be sure.

To the confused... And to help everyone understand the rocks in this thread... There were originally TWO threads, one for the scraper topic, and one thread for the rock in the water. The threads got merged by someone, without my approval, or without my even being asked about it. I knew it would cause confusion to have these two topics in the same thread, which is why they were SEPARATE threads in the first place. Contact me to discuss why this was necessary, por favor. :)
