I found this lying on a road deep in a beautiful wilderness area.

It's not a perfect-looking thing, but it has marks that show it was worked, I believe. It feels like it would have been used as a scraper, when in the hand. The inward curve at the bottom is very sharp.

I should also mention that none of the stones around this area are black like this one. It's the only one I could find of the same composition.

Very strange marks in stone

Very strange marks in stone

I found this on a boulder, half submerged in a stream by my house. It's at a bend in the river, a very special place, too. The entire bend in the river, on into the bank, is blue clay. A VERY large deposit. The type of blue clay that people use as skin toning masks, or for pottery. Very high quality stuff.

The designs run don into the water where I can't get my camera. They zigzag just like what you see in the pics, even under the water. Very strange.

I figure this is either a fossil of some sort, or it is a carving done by natives to show this was a special place to them... for the clay.

What do you think?

very cool CC...looks like an imprint of some sort of fossil, but what ever it is, very unique!

natural erosion, imo

I thought so, too at first, but it's so weird compared to anything else I've ever seen as erosion. Look at that line connecting the angles. What's that? And if you look closely, you'll see other shapes in the stone that don't match the lines.

I've had these pics for a while, just thought I'd post them to get second opinions. :)

Also, look at the shape in the last picture, to the top left of the sharp angle. It looks almost like a purposeful shape. I'll go get a close-up of just that area and post it shortly.

Definitely erosion, but something looks to be imprinted in the rock, just cant tell for sure what it is from the picture.

I get the erosion thing, but if you were to stand next to it and look for any other signs on other rocks like this, you find nothing.

Also, look closer at the anomaly at the top left. It's geometric, and does NOT flow in the direction of the water.

take a metal detector with you .
if it goes off then its a metor,
if there alot of white quarts rocks stuck under it then you may want to pull out a handfull and detect them aswell for gold.

Hehe, I know. :) We have already panned gold out of here. Shhh. ;)

I want to run some of this clay through a sluice. :) Imagine what can be found stuck in there. :)

Yup - man made for sure. Could be hundreds to thousands years old.

Nice find - I have a buddy who collects/finds. He has alot of stone arrowheads, and part of a large, hand knapped stone knife.

Yep looks hand made fer sho, and the markings on the rock dont look natural.
maybe some erosion but not all and your right. You would see that it would match the flow
of the stream and it doesn't.VERY cool.

GO FOR THE GOLD.
