Hermies?

Hey :joint:
Good? Bad? Whats tha deal!
Are seeds from hermies good to grow? but bad to breed with?
What happens if there are two hermies and they cross pollinate each other? Still good to grow?
Or if just a normal plant turns hermie are those seeds good to grow?
Just curious....:nanana:

Id not bother using hermie seed mr queef, always leads to trouble . If you do a search on the forums ,, breeders forum is a good place to look , youll see many debates over the value of hermies.

There is a real story mr queef , have a look in the breeders forum , lets face it hermies produce unwanted male flowers and therefore unwanted pollenation, who likes seedy herb??

It depends on why it hermied, if it was an indoor grow it could easily have been caused by grower (light leaks etc).

As to breeding, well it's ok to run seed developed by self pollination but DON'T breed with it.

As Mr Duck said, do a thread search and seek wisened voices, this has been discussed heaps.

I've had 100% success rate with seedbay, seed boutique and hemp depot, getting seed into Down Under

Good Luck

If you want to breed you would always start with some good stable true breeding stock. But you would also want to stress the frk out of this stock so that any plant with intersex genes would reveal itself (hermie). The females that dont hermie are likely to be true females. The keepers! The average that would be true would be in the 10 - 20% range.

If you breed with hermies or a plant that you think is female but is really a hermie then effectivly you are stacking these dominant unwanted negative traits on the alleles. Not what any breeder would want

if we were to discard hermied strains we'd miss out on the greats, like chem D.

Hermies can be managed and eliminated (sometimes), depending why they're hermying to begin with.

why do you think r3z crossed pretty much everything he had with hindu kush? resin mon & to try n stabilize shit. because things cant be managed. you cant work backwards like that. not in one lifetime anyway. its all about where you start. all the hk crosses were more apealing to me than the original plants.

no doubt it is great, everthing from that camp is great but..

now take sk#1. thats real greatness. its stood the test of time. so many killer beans now have it in the genes. why do you think that is?..

Edit: it doesnt matter WHY anything hermies that fact that it is (or could) means the genes responsable for intersex are dominant in that plant and now matter what sort of spin anyone puts on it or techniques people try will never change the fact that if you breed with an intersexed plant you are going to only get out what you put in..

I had a hermi pollinate 5 feminized seed plants.. Had couple hundred seeds from those plants in the box... Turned out to be all female seeds..
Good for a beginner medical person.. I got away cheep for years.

4 of the 5 strains never hermied. The Sativa cross did with the predictable type of hermi trait and some with the sneaky type too.

Wasn't planning to keep breeding the lineage but I sure liked the smoke.

Not from Down under so I hope you don't mind the visit.

BTW that Hermi was a nice smoke for it's flavor and the smoke aroma.. Unique is how I would describe it. maybe I'll play with those S1's If I can get them to pop. The worst is I waste my time..

Hey I was thinking all strains have to have a hermi parent some place in their linage..

my oppinion of hermies is fuck em off, they fuck up th whole end product. yeilding seedy hermie pot is like milking sour milk from a cow! fucking useless.

Yeah, well, I spose it depends on experience and what you are growing for.

Hermied seeds from some bud may work fine for the backyard grower.

But, if you are gonna get a bit more serious you'd be better off sourcing seed from Seedboutique.
