Hi.

I'm switching to coco for the first time from soil. I'm setting up flood and drain, so it will be a recirculating system.
I've read various post concerning feeding with Canna's Coco nutes.
Below is what I came up with after reading gaiusmarius' Canna feeding schedule.
I replaced Canna PK 13/14 with AN Hammerhead PK 9/18
Just want to make sure what I have is approve by the pros here so I'll have a peace of mind to proceed.
I'd appreaciate all input and recommendation.

Week 1
Coco A+B 3 ml.
*Cal-Mag 2 ml.*
Rhizotonic 15 ml.
Ph @ 5.7

looks fine to me.
canna is pretty kick ass homey.
looks like A/B (the main food) at about 50% and everything else (the additives.... zym, rhizo, boost) looks full strength to me.

I don't see a problem just watch your plants and you'll be fine.
Coco is E-A-S-Y.

this is pretty much what I am doing now. I am not being as strict as I have been in the past with the weekly rez changes - I'll let them go 10-14 depending on which stage/week the crop is in.

Greyskull, thank you for the input. I've read somewhere that Cal-Mag was mix in first before the Coco A+B, I assuming that your chart reflect this. Are you using tab water with this schedule?

This isn't mine but I plan on using it as a guideline.

I am a first time grower still vegging what I hope will be my first successful harvest. In my humble opinion, I would follow other's profiles only if you are growing the exact same strain, otherwise use it as a guideline and figure out what works best for you. The one thing I have learned with coco is that it is really simple to correct mistakes.

There is a lot of good info growing with canna and coco.**

i mix my nutes in this order...
cal-mag, rhizo, zym, pk13/14, boost, sweet, b, then a, then adjust ph

i use basic tap water from a garden hose... but I have a refrdgerator filter on the end to clean it up some. my tap ppm (ay the .7 conversion for all you anti ppm heads) is 385.

Nice schedule you have there Greyskull, similar to what I made up but your layout is nicer. Do you have an excel copy I could use or did you make it with something else?

Thanks again Greyskull.

Thinking about using similar schedule as I have all of the same nutes except sweet (molasses instead). Would you recommend this for hand watering daily?

you can use it, sure.

a good friend of mine (i dont want to just drop his name) tried Sweet with his hand watered canna coco regime inplace of mollasses (which he was using previously), and he tells me the results w/Sweet were noticebly more resinous & fragrant. fwiw

Is there a reason to still use rhizo if the roots are growing out of the bottom of the pot?

I stop adding rhizo when this happens as I am using 1gal pots, but the canna schedule says to keep adding it.

Interesting. Ive heard from both sides, some say sweet it just overpriced molasses mix, but then some also say that its made specifically to be absorbed better by plants.

I just chose molasses because it was cheaper/easier to get, but next time I have some extra $ at the hydro store ill probably pick some up and give it a run.

I think its probably just to try to keep the roots you have healthy. The schedule I have from Canna only recommends 2ml a gallon after Veg, and I usually try to use 1/2 of whats recommended, so only 1ml a gallon.

also when looking to buy a nutrient range for this substrate try and buy one that has a seperate a+b for veg and flower this way they transfer and go into flower much smoother. You can get the A+B veg for £15 and the same for bloom. 4ltrs for £30 is a lot for your money. As you should never go over an E.C of 2.0 it will last ages.... If you only clone and veg for 3 weeks maximum. Always keep a moist cultivated surface and feed with 20% run off and always check th E.C and PH of run off before throwing it.. and remember FEED ONCE WATER ONCE with PH correct water this is important if you want to see improvments overfeeding is the no 1 thing newbys do. This is the best method for hand feeding in pots to insure no toxic sals build up, and you can regulate the PH at the same time bang on makes big differences 50g per plant difference. And remember you need the grow and bloom on coco as it is inert all boosters, tonics and such are not needed to grow pungent 1 touch homegrown dutch. I use them on sick or week plants but for cheeper harvests only use a little if they need it. for a beginner canna A+B is good but iguana juice is the BEST!!!!! Healthy plants will yield massive on just water alone. happy growing

how much do you feed sprouts with first leaves apearing?

I've done plain tap water until the first set of real leaves start showing, after that I do a very light nute mix of 1mL/Gal A+B and 4mL/gal of Rhiz. As it grows I'll up the nutrients until the plant tells me she doesn't like it.
