Hi all,

I'm starting my 3rd grow op and was after a bit of advice. The last two were done in a cuboard in my student house abt 5yrs ago when OverGrow was still around pumping out the gardening advice!
Now Ive decided to invest in a little equipment - nothing major - just enough for a nice bit of percy.
Was just after getting some thoughts from you guys. I'm looking at . . .
Darkroom Grow Tent (60x60x140) - I only have a small space
250w CoolStar HPS - I used a 400W before and had major problems with heat
Ruck 100 Extractor (directly connected to the light via ducting)
Fans for airflow.
It's all just under the £300 mark

I've been umming and arring about whether to add a Blue 125w CFL to the setup for an extra £40. I've read that this supplements the HPS quite well especially during the vegging stage

I was thinking of 5-6 plants in 6.5l pots using feminised Master Kush although Ive heard that alot of these plants turn out hermy? As this is my first grow in a while, I as after something fairly hardy and easy to grow.

Any feedback would be great!

If you are going with a 5'x5' tent, 250w might be a bit small from what I've read, but I'm sure someone else will back me up. With that size tent, you would be better off sticking with the 400w you used previously, and then just get a better fan, which will probably cost less then a new light.

I'm not sure about the blue CFL's, but it's always beneficial to fill out the spectrum as much as possible at all times afiak. I always keep a couple daylight and GE gro lights in 4' floro's in my room just for this purpose

I wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 400w for sure. your definitly going to seed a 265 cfm daton blower to cool a 400, 600 or 1000.

going with feminized seed is a gamble that i have yet to take but I'm am going to try them. its all on you.

go with HPS all the way. then you dont need anymore light.

My measure were in cm though so I'm looking at 2ft x 2ft - quite small thats why I'm using the 250W.
Do you reckon I could get a 400 in that space with the extractor without the tent overheating?

You might be able to with a large fan but I wouldn't try. I think a 250 Is perfect for that space.
