that lanky stretchy thing is the back right was the runt and just took off and i could not stop her..she just kept growing like a WEED..lol I hacked her to death along with a few others that just to small and shaded. i cull hard..if it aint up to par in what i like in a plant i hack it..no sense keeping the weak link around! enjoy

Looking good. But that girl you culled was one stretchy lady. Luckily her sisters survived untouched.

What soil mix are you using?

Maybe it's just me...but I have a hard time trashing females. Unless space is the issue, why not flower them out and smoke them? Even with space being an issue, why couldn't a person simply take a clone and flower from root? Nothing to be concerned about in the case of their genetic linkage, weak or otherwise, unless you breed with them.
I would hate to think I paseed up a potential keeper just because I like to think I'm a "hard culler". Maybe I just don't get it? (shrug)

How do I officially join the 150w Club. Here is a pick of my current grow to prove it. Also, I want some info on a good SOG setup for my lighting?. I have one 150w hps and two 100w equivalent cfl's.

Waiting on the mylar to get here.

Thanks Disco Biscuit. The mylar should make the most of my light. More light=more bud. I love my 150w hps. Trying to milk it for all it's worth in dank buds.

Lamp proximity?

Lamp proximity?

I have two strains in flower atm. The heavy yielder is farther from the lamp than the average yielders. The avg yielders are producing more bud than the heavy one. The average yielders have almost no popcorn at the bottom and they're tall. The heavy is a bush and still has it's usual amount of popcorn at the bottom.

Close-in light penetrates a flower canopy better. There's a chart floating around here somewhere that shows a 150 doesn't have very much usable light beyond 12". It's not what people see as much as what the plant sees/needs.

A broad concensus here advocates close-in light. A simple experiment should prove accurate. Put a plant close to the light and another 8-10 or 12 inches away. Judge the results for yerself.

Dang. Should have atleast tied her down and kept her.
Seems like a waste. :-/

my plants are 12-18 inches away for veg. When I flower them I will bring the lamp closer. i am just worried about the lamp heat on the plant.

It only takes a few hours to know if it is too close. A leaf or two will stain from the heat, telling you they are too close. It won't ruin the plant if that happens, just move the light further away.
I will often sacrifice some leaf and a bud or two so that the rest get adequate light.
Some may worry too much to get them that close. (shrug)

hey dreampipe
do you supplement those cfls in with the hps while in veg? and if not how well does all six of them do with just the hps?( yeild)

promixBX/wormcast/perlite

i killed the lanky bitch and two othes that had been shaded and stunted. got 8 healthy females which is a small jungle under a 150.

reason for killing females is i have no room for weak plants. 11 or even 8 female plants under a 150 is alot!! i leave my 150 at 10" and always grow real dank nuggs..and i go alittle higher with the lamp being i have no intake/venting or even a fan in the room:joint:
i think 5-8" above plants is key but if you have alot of plants like i have now 8-11plants under a 150 you need to rase the light to get them all under the even canopy!

Didn't know about fans or lack of. I was mostly generalizing provided canopy temps aren't causing trouble close in. Reflective enclosures or reflective barriers of 3 sq feet pretty much maximizes light potential also. Although a 150 will spread light farther than this, it has to be pretty high up and less effective w/o supplemental lights IMO. Good work on those plants!

This was my first grow and I'm pretty happy with the results.

mtnkush - I'm not aware that I had any pH problems so you either need to backup your statement or your just blowing smoke. (always checked my water) I want to improve my growing so if you can back it up, I would be grateful for the help. You sure talk big, but I don't see any pics to back up anything you say!

I had my buds 3 inches next to the bare 150w HPS bulb with about 100CFM blowing next to at times and it never burned them.

^ I think I'll be mostly running the BG on the right for next run. If I can pack my space with those colas I don't see why I wouldn't be able to yeild ~112-150g. It would be nice to cook with canna when my lungs aren't feeling so good.

So far for a smoke report..

The Northern Lights samples I took have a real creeper high that sneaks up on ya and then it hits you over the head with a frying pan. It seems like it would be a nice strain to numb ya before bed, but honestly, it just makes me dumb. I will probably never run a strong Indica again because in some ways it elvates the symptoms I know I can fix with Sativa.

Thanks again for the help everyone. I can't begin to express how conforting it is not to have to worry about the affordibility or aviablility of medicine.

not aware of ph probs.. if your just checking your water and not your runoff or the soil itself then thats a prob..go back to your grow log and look at the pics starting on your page 1 and read threw to the end. . if you cant see that you had..lanky plants, overferted plants. ph probs then maybe your need to pick up a book. and as far as me posting pics maybe go back and read the page before this one.. smart ass >them clones look lush too  i was trying to offer help >but your green and want to argue.. even them nuggs shots you posted..you going to tell me they are not suffering from major over nute and ph probs.? ok well everybody enjoy your day
:moon: your harvest looks good regardless :joint: enjoy the smoke

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to catman again."

Nice variety catman!

lanky genes = lanky plants.

layoff MtnKuSh, nobody wants your advice off the back of your hand. if somebody wants your advice, let them ask. If you volunteer, act like you have some manners. We all care that you too have some plants to brag about. No need to get in a bunch.

Out of the goodness of my heart I'm going to let you get a look at two of my favorite ladies.
My wife and a vegging Sata Nash Sativa. Niether of them is tall and lanky, but I love them both dearly.

Now can't we all just get along? :noway:

One Love, PD

Nice harvest pics catman and the BG on the right is a good choice. I've never had a taste of a purple pheno BG though. At least you have some variety to choose from this time. :joint:
