Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Oh god DocLeaf, don't tempt Tarkus with that song. He sings it all the time and since it always gets stuck in my head, I end up singing it a lot. When we went camping last weekend, I swear he sung that song at least a few times a day. Always a funny sight though :D :D

My mom never used to let me watch it when I was a kid. She didn't want me speaking ebonics, lol.

how are you going to learn "ebonics" from Will Smith?

that coulden't have been the issue.

I bet your moms just didn't want you to watch black folks on TV. Even though Will was more "white" than the Alex P. Keaton on "Family Ties".

and yeah the Fresh Prince Crew from OG is still around, and as mentioned they hang out at an unmentionable site.

I could totally see how you could learn ebonics from Will Smith. Shit, it has already happened. I guess ya'll weren't in school when it came out, but down here it was pretty big. A lot more white people and nerds suddenly realized they could talk a certain way and dress a certain way and look cool. To some.

I know a lot of people that talk the way they do and act like they do as a direct result of watching Fresh Prince and shows like that. And boy do their parents hate it!!!

No, she let me watch "white" black shows, like the Cosby show. In fact, Cosby show was a staple of me growing up. We watched them all. She taught school in a rough area, to which most of her kids wound up joining gangs or going to jail throughout the ages, and she had a messed up sense of causation.

I watched Family Ties, Cosby Show, Growing Pains, I can't even remember the rest of the shows I watched growing up. I don't even remember Growing Pains by in large.

that show is classic. i watched it all the time when i was in grade and middle school. almost never missed an episode. i'm 25 now and i still love to watch episodes i've seen 65 times for 3 straight hours on nickolodeon at 2 in the morning. i never realized when i was younger how cheeky the humor was.

i think my favorite dialogue is in the episode where will is trying to hook his professor up with some chicks so that he can get a good grade on his midterm. he busts out his black book and the prof starts looking thru it...

will - "yeah, this is my chicktionary, it even has grades in there"
prof. - "wow there's a lot of F's in here"
will - "well...that ain't necessarily a bad thing, n'amsayin??.."
prof - "ohhhh haha...wait, why's this one have a 'B' and an 'F'?"
will - "that means you should 'B' prepared for a possible 'F'!!"

classic.

I saw a VH1, they say carlton (who knows what his real name is) doesn't do 'the dance' any more unless he's drunk

I was high as hell at a friend's house and he had the theme song as his ringtone.

All the sudden I hear, " I, pulled, up to crib about 7 or 8.."

It caught me off guard like a motherfucker, funniest ringtone ever. Novelty wore off quick, but it was funny as hell that one time, haha

Now I can LOL on the go!

Does anyone else laugh hysterically when Carlton screams when he's scared?

I LOL EVERY SINGLE TIME Jazz gets thrown out!

I LOL every time Will hits on a chick - I'm going to start using those in public. "Girl, you so fine, your name in the dictionary next to KA-BLAM!"
