So I've been looking at scopes for a couple minutes online and I remember the 420 scope from an old high times (previously the "weed-o-scope").

so what I want you to do is go to 420scope.com the website, leave the page up and open a new window and go to http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/9c42/ and compare the two side to side.. CLEARLY made by the same mother company but they throw 420 on the one and say its for weed and double the price!!

anyone else find things like this? (I've read posts about mylar being the SAME as reflective 'poly' wrapping paper that is found for 2-3 bucks at stores)

I've always gotten my "mylar" at the dollar store. Do the whole inside of my cab for less than 8$ US. First stuff I found was paper backed and I didn't much care for that, figured it was a fire hazard and it wrinkled after a few days anyway so I didn't put it in.
Kept looking and found the poly stuff and its all good.
I've also found that pumps, fittings and other like items found at hydro stores are much cheaper at hardware or aquarium stores too.

Cool. I was looking at a build your own drip system thread here (I may go coco/perlite for my next grow) and its all parts that would be really cheap at a home improvement/hardware store (seals, fittings, PVC piping,rubber tubing , air filters, pumps, etc!)!

Good to see another DIY person who would rather use common sense than buy the premade ripoff that is of equal or lesser quality than you could build it yourself

Look at the 420 cleaner stuff for pipes...those were some smart stones who got rich off selling smelly rubbing alcohol salt in a bottle to not-so-smart stones for 500%+ markup.

Even hydro stores fuck ya a bit, it's bizzness...buy direct

It's the same with boats. Anything with "marine" in the name and the price at least doubles. The exact same item can often be found at hardware or other stores for much less.

a $30 420 scope is a $10 battery powered micro scope sold at radio shack.


formula 420 is salt, low percentage iso alcohol, and food coloring. the shit is marked up 1000%

yeah I noticed the microscope thing a while ago and wondered if it was the same as the radio shack one thats only 10 bucks

i figured everyone here would have already known

the jars that they sell in hightimes range from 1 dollar for the clear top push on seal type
to 2 dollars for the lab ones with the black tops

whatever theyre charging for them, i guarantee its not 2 bucks

and not only are hydroponic stores expensive, you risk being labeled a cash cropper every time you walk out of the store carrying something you just bought.

but a good hydroponic or grow shop offers hundreds of specialized items that Walmart doesn't sell that we need, helps out with expert advice and offers after sales service..and they have all you need and choices in the one store....so buy your fittings and mylar from a Walmart and buy your specialized ferts, other additives, bulbs etc from the grow shop.
