Nanners?

Had a few of these pods that looks like male parts, on an otherwise female plant. some of them opened and threw hairs, but these petal things look like baby nanners to me - what u guys think?

EDIT: How long do these take to open and drop a load?

Congratulations, it's hermi! If you have a whole room full of plants, you might want to consider taking it down, but if you just have a few, go over the plant a couple of times a day and remove all the pollen sacs that you can. This is mainly because most of the seeds that you would get from it would be hermi also, and not something anyone would want to deal with.

i only have 2 plants of this strain, both are doing this. i can only go over the plants once per day, albeit as thoroughly as I want. Think that's enough, or can they grow, open, and pollinate in 23 hrs?

This sack has been closed for days and just opened today. Other sacks have opened and thrown hairs, I should pull these sacks too, yea? Just to be safe hehe

I know any seeds/pollen collected would be bunk

If you like seedy weed, leave them in the grow. There is no way a hermie won't seed your plants eventually. They are sneaky bitches...

Sigh...that's what happened to me last 2 grows.....

that's the real question, isn't it. I was hoping checking every day would be enough - these 2 plants are not very bushy, basically 2 tops with everything else removed for clones.

Do nanners grow INSIDE the buds? and if so, how can that pollen get anywhere lol

better safe than super sorry i s'pose

If you are truly on top of it, pick em off. I have to pick my Grape Skunk like crazy in weeks 2-4, she's very mannish... the smoke has proven to be worth the trouble, however. Growing colas as opposed to bushes helps a lot. I keep mine in the back by the exhaust fan, so if I miss one... nothing else in the cab gets hit.

I haven't had a single accident-seed yet, and no pin-seed problems... but Lola's right. She'll try, and try hard. Unless it's special smoke or all you have growing, it's probably not worth the risk.

k thanks guys. haven't tried the smoke but heard good things - it's romulan x grapefruit from next generation.
they are double cola plants, not bushes, so i'm hoping managing 4 branches is possible. if i see too many nanners though i'll scrap the plants. they are only 2 of many.

Hello all,

I have had a few of those with one or two strains and so far I think they have been sterile because I have not had but one or two seeds per plant.

Still when I see them I cut them off.

I have found that keeping my environment stable and no light leaks keeps them from herming for the most part.

This has been my experience.

thanks minds_I, i do have clones from both, so i'll flower one of each to see if it's something i did or genetic. but i think either way they're gonzo, if it's genetic i can't be arsed to check 100's of plants daily lol and if they're very sensitive to light leaks, etc, that will eventually bite me in the ass. not worth it, i have other good strains.

also, after pulling those 3 or 4 balls, both plants decided to put out a dozen more each haha guess they have a death wish :joint:
