4 x 600 HPS
10 x 4ft flo fixtures.

Winter months 2900 KWH
Summer Time (Central Air) 3800KWH.

$250.00 Electric Bill Winter months

$300 - $325 Summertime ?


I was thinking of cutting back one light in the summer to compensate for the central air.

Anyways whats your KWH per Month ?

Do you live a newer house ?

Im thinking my house needs a new electrical upgrade.
Another house i lived at ended up having to get a a breaker box,new line to the house and new meter reader.

3 -400hps electric bills were about $125.00 a month.
After they replaced and upgraded the Box and meter.
Electric bills where around $60.00 a month!

Strange story about this old house.
It was an Old Farm house!!
In the basement they had a phone socket wired into the electrical wiring.
I know its silly to say but it seemed like the more we used the phone the cheaper the electric bill was.
Sounds goofy huh !

I do run a gas water heater, dryer, furnace, and stove.
I'm sure that helps.

turning off computers @ night may help. they can draw 300-400w a piece. check the power source for details.

there is a chart for common household appliances, usually in appliance section of home improve store, or remodel book. common kitchen uses lots of amps

ranges are like 5k. wall heaters are like 2k each. turn off tv+lights when not in use. use clocks w/ batteries. unplug radios, other electronics that have digi display(led's), which has current draw (those milliamps add up).

modern homes are constructed w/ 100-200 amp service entrances, especially in colder/hotter climates where cooling/heating is done via electricity instead of natural gas/propane.

200 amps is ([p/e=i], or, for example 10,000 total watts/110 voltage=90 amps. w/ a 200 amp service entrance, can run 160 amps w/ no problem. thats 80% of total load, or 200*.8=160.

w/ a 100 amp service entrance, it is, of course, 80 amps that can be run (80% of total power load). 6 1k's, @~9 amps ea=54 amps. mix in an 8-10 amp ac to get 64 amps. still have 16 amps for fans, peripherals, etc.

running 80% of total load is ok, as long as bill paid.

many folks have shops w/ powers tools, space heaters/coolers, ranges, kilns, home offices, home recording studios, deep freezers, washing/drying machines, dish washer, microwave, etc, etc, bunch of acquired electronics via consumer purchases. turn as many of these off as possible. they actually about add up to a **k garden, if used frequently, depending on how many creature comforts used.

no way for leo to distinguish between the above. any home is capable of running up to 80% total load w/ no problems. main thing is least amount of extension cords, if own wiring done, use 12/3, or correct guage wire for application. modern home is equipped to run lots of conspicuously consumed electronic/heavy current load

Even with a 100A you have plenty of room to add more lights.
