How to Garden By The Moon

L

LolaGal

Big Tex has a gardening calendar that says something different, the signs are not lining up with mine. Tropical sez barren, sidereal zodiac is saying fruitful. Big differences!

I like ole llewellyn's. They have some funky publications, but their moon sign books are good. They used to give the planting dates for hemp and they quit a year or two ago. The weather forecasts in there are amazingly accurate so far this year.

Llewellyn's missed a giant ice storm this winter by 1-2 days I think. Amazing.

Ok I ordered the Llewellyn moon book but I was just lookin at their other books and they have one,"Is your pet psychic?". I sure hope they don't produce that book too. I'd have a hard time taking advise from something made by folks who think there are psychic pets running around the place. Maybe I should see if my dog knows anything about this planting date thing:D

I was just jerkin your chain:D I'm lookin forward to the book. Thank you

I use Classic Jack's Blossom Booster 10-52-10 and also a pinch of Northern Lights Fat Flower 0-50-0. I give em a little Sugar Daddy (i think it is watered down molassses). Also been giving them a smidge of Cal-Mag every 6th watering or so.

The Jack's Blossom Booster claims it can be added to any fert without overdosing it. I use 1/4 tsp per gallon every other watering.

I usually have to add a little pH down to my water supply.

The Cali Orange buds are tight and heavy... Hoping for a nice crop of those. They are about 12 inches long, as are the White Rhino buds.

Here's a new pic of the White Rhino buds, couldn't reach the plant to hang the lighter on there, don't know why I decided to stick my hand in there and take a pic...must've been stoned.

I was looking at the differences between sidereal and tropical zodiac. I thought this was interesting...

"Once people begin to look further into astrology one of the questions that come up include; first of all what are the tropical and sidereal zodiacs, and then why and how these systems are used. Basically 'sidereal zodiac' can be interpreted as 'star zodiac'; and 'tropical zodiac' can be translated to 'symbolic zodiac'
Sidereal astrology is the older astrology and is based on where the constellations are physically located when viewed from earth. This system is now mainly used by Hindu and oriental astrologers and was used early on in astrological history by all astrologers.

Back in the days before computers, technology, etc thousands of years ago astrologers needed a method to map the sky as efficiently as possible: of course there were would have been quite a few different methods used at the time, but one that has stayed with us is "tropical measurement".

What this means is that at the time of the tropical zodiac being developed, the sun was around the first degree of Aries on the first day of Spring (this was based on what was seen in the sky). So if the beginning of the zodiac began on the first day of Spring, then that day would mark in the sky the first degree of Aries, so all the other constellations would follow, the movement of the planets would then be easier to map. It is important to note that at that period of time thousands of years ago that both the sidereal and tropical zodiac were basically the same.

BUT… most people do not know that because of various planetary influences and other technical considerations that the tropical zodiac is now no longer in the same position as the sidereal one (this is technically known as the precession of the equinoxes - see links below for further exploration).

Basically the sidereal (or star) zodiac is based on the constellations as they are, whereas the tropical (or symbolic) zodiac uses the constellation positions as they used to be. This means that if a chart was drawn up for both of these systems using exactly the same birth information, that the plEven though there is a bit of controversy surrounding the differences between the two systems and how their differences can be explained in an interpretative sense, my thoughts on this include that astrology is an art of symbolism and interpretation and that individuals have a choice in using what works for them and their clients. Perhaps having a sidereal and a tropical zodiac is an opportunity for more people to look into this fascinating and helpful profession.anets would be in different positions (at the moment there is approximately 24 degrees difference between the two zodiacs). The tropical zodiac moves extremely slowly about 25,000 years to return to its original beginning point!

In summary the two zodiac systems started off being the same, but over the thousands of years since then our view of the constellations from earth has changed due to the precession of the equinoxes. The sidereal zodiac is mainly used by eastern astrologers while the tropical zodiac is mainly used by western astrologers.

Even though there is a bit of controversy surrounding the differences between the two systems and how their differences can be explained in an interpretative sense, my thoughts on this include that astrology is an art of symbolism and interpretation and that individuals have a choice in using what works for them and their clients. Perhaps having a sidereal and a tropical zodiac is an opportunity for more people to look into this fascinating and helpful profession."

After much study I have concluded that the tropical zodiac is more accurate than the sidereal zodiac from an astrological standpoint. I've always gardened by the signs using sidereal zodiac and with pleasing results, but now I'm thinking maybe the tropical zodiac would be a better reference. I think I'll study a little more on the two. Anyway my Llewelyn calendar should be here soon and I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. This subject is very interesting to me because I have religously gardened by the signs for years but never knew about tropical or sidereal zodiac until you pointed it out to me. Thanks Lola

Hee, hee, good one Peat! I noticed that too. Thanks Ya'll.

Anybody ever hear of a variegated leaf bamboo? White and green striped? Got a start today, but I don't think it's bamboo. Looks a lot like corn.
