Just how toxic is Floramite?

Who knows the low down on Floramite. I know that it kills mites and their eggs but a buddy told me not to use it due to the high toxicity. Its fine for ornamentals or outdoor landscape and even indoor landscape type stuff but, he said " if you wanta poison all your friends, go ahead". He also said that the pesticide "Avid" mess' up your DNA for around 4 generations! Whoa I guess I need to do more research before spraying pesticides just because they kill every damn thing. He finished with saying that of course sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, but at the risk of fucking everyone up. It changed my mind about using it. Now I'm gonna use AzaMax which comes from neem oil. Its put out by General Hydroponics.

FM is fine, if used in veg ONLY!! Do not use once they start to flower--
This is what my (very knowledgeable) Hydro Store guy told me, with great emphasis, when I bought it--

yeah i was told pretty much the same when i bought my mite poison ...

usually you dont put any stuff on your plants during flower because if its once in there its gonna be in there all the time :nanana:
if you put it on plants in veg then i would use it and after 2 days flush the whole plant with water so that even the very last bit of it comes off the plant again!
and further more i would cover your medium with aluminium foil or something so non of the poison is abel to get into the plant it self

Wear a respirator when you spray it (a real one, not one of those paper masks,) and you can use it up to week 4 in flower safely as long as you don't harvest early (it biodegrades in 28 days.)

Thanks for the replies y'all. I'll be real careful if I decide to use it. It just kinda worries me cuz I've been 100% organic for a very long time and my concsience is clean. I'ld hate to poison myself or my patients. I'll do more research on it before I commit to using it. It sure is tempting though since it even kills the eggs. So to treat the mother plants I'm gonna strip most of the foliage off and just retain enough to keep it alive. That way the bugs wont have anyplace to hide. I'll be doing less spraying and using less pesticide. Once I get the problem under control I'll quick take some cuttings and shitcan the mother, soil and all as many types of bugs start in the soil and then climb up the plant .

I don't know what kind of light you're using, but if its a MH or CMH the uv will break down the floramite within 30 days or less. Plus your plants will like the added spectrum.

PS: this isn't true of systemic pesticides like Avid.

If you have to use it, you can use it until the first week in flower. It should be out of the plant iabout 1-2 weeks before harvest. Well perhaps not 100 %, but at least you can harvest some buds.

I'm an organical grower aswell and it sucks to use chemical stuff, but indoors is somtimes special and all new cuts that come into my room, get into isolation chamber and get a little treatment. A haelthy and clean environment is always the best thing to avoid any kind of bullshit.

I'm working in that gardening business for some time and before I was running my own business, I was working for different companies, that used chemical stuff. And it's crazy that for example for strawberrys, you can use some bad ass pesticides until 6 days before harvest and for grapes you have to wait 44 days, for the same stuff before harvest!

Good luck!

Avid isnt a systemic. Avid has a very low warning rating as far as pesticides go. It has been accepted for use on vegetable and some fruit crops as well if you do the research such as UC Davis' extension page. I have used Avid professionally for over a decade. Oh and my offspring are perfectly healthy with no issues. Just be smart with your pesticide applications. Long sleaved shirt, pants, gloves, any respirator will do, I never use one. Put your clothes in the washer as soon as your done and shower. Dont smoke or eat when you apply it. Both floramite and avid have a little residual effect but very little. you need to hit the mites again after 5-7 days as the eggs will hatch and mites will be there still. Neither are ovacides or systemics. Both products are listed online with safety and spec sheets. Both are very benign as far as insecticides go.:2cents:

aaaaiiiiieeeeeeeeeee..............:(

Avid is bad stuff, I won't use it. Sprayed with an old gas mask when I was younger and I was shaking with muscle spasms for days. I hear flora mite is pretty toxic too but should be ok in VEG only. Get a proper suit and respirator.

As far as lower toxicity chemistry check out forbid and kontos. I've had better luck with forbid and don't feel so bad about using it. Again, use in veg only don't poison your friends.

Go to the Spider Mite/Borg Sticky in the Cannabis Infirmary. There are many ways to skin a Spider Mite. Even organically. Research before you use such poisons. Floramite calls itself "ornamental pesticide." Good luck. -granger
