need to find an air leak

I have 24 air cooled hoods, and am using 2 12" fans to cool them. Problem is I have a leak somewhere because when I turn on the fans, my CO2 starts dropping very quickly and I can also feel the negative pressure on the door. I was thinking of turning off the lights, using some smoke and trying to see where it goes.

I have taped every joint on the hoods, the glass, the take offs on the large intake/exhaust etc. The only possibility is something wasnt taped good enough

I think the issue is when I adjust the hoods, I may beloosening the seal on the duct between the hoods. I do have slack between hoods, not a ton though. Also nobody wanted to spring for hose clamps. Instead we used large zip ties. I feel they arent getting tight enough.

lol... buy the clamps, and get rid of those partners :joint:

edit: i assume your fans are outside the grow space, and exhaust outside as well

I use smoke like you were thinking of.
Sage or incense or whatever.
See where it goes.

reverse the fan you think is causing the pressure and send some smoke through, i've had to do it a few times in the past using marine orange smoke flares

i actually had a fog machine and tried it. It was very hard to see where the leak was. I do believe we have a couple suspects. There are large elbows at the end of each pipe that have seams and it seems like they are leaking at the joints in the elbows. The elbows can twist and turn to provide any degree of turn, just not 90.

It was fun breathing in all the fog from the fog machine.

Even after all this, one is on the fence about the clamps. All I can do is shake my head.

and we are thinking of reversing the fans permanently. The air cooling is doing so well sucking, I cant imagine we will loose much effeciency blowing

I think you got it with the elbow's they do leak.Tape them if you don't have to adjust them any more,If so wrap them with plastic and tape the ends up good.
