What's new

what strain will accomplish my goals???

I will be growing in a small cabinet that is similar to an NGB cab. I will be floweing with a 150 watt hps, the flower area will be about 15" wide X 36" height X 24" deep. I will be growing using a perpetual harvest sog. I will be flowering clones in 2liter bottles, cut of at the top of the label. I would like to have about 8-10 plants flowering at a time, harvesting one plant a week or so. My goal is to find a strain that will yeild about any oz per plant in a 2liter. My current strains i have picked out are:

Skunk #1-fem seeds-will be getting clone from friend
hashberry- from mandala
speed queen- from mandala

I have other strains in mind, but wanted some feedback to which strain would be able to yeild about an oz in a 2 liter and grows well in SOG style. Thanks guys, for any ideas. :joint:

lowryders yeild about an oz per plant, maybe a little less and can be kept small, under the same light cycle and are done in about 2 months. Not sure how much you know about them but if you need anymore info just let me know. I've done a lot of research about them because i was going to do... basically what your thinking of doing, but with lowryders but i found a different strain that fit me better. Good luck

Don't go with auto flower strains cuz you want to have a mom I would imagine to keep supplying your garden with quality clones. I'd say stay away from SR71 Purple Kush cuz it's slow as fuck and a low yielding strain plus it stays TOO short IMO no stretch at all.. I think Hashberry would be a good one for you and the Skunk#1... Headband is a good yielder too from what I've heard and seen or any of the Goo's that are out there and if you go with one of those you will get to make some bomb ass hash due to all the crystals those Goo strains produce...

I have no desire to grow any autoflowering plants, i want to keep a mom like thundurkle mentioned. I will now be growing one fem skunk that just popped, but have to wait a week or two to make room in my current veg area before i can get it from my friend because he doenst have room. I will be ordering hashberry soon and probably speed queen to play around with. My current bagseeds seems to strech too much (very sativa dominant i think) and doenst yeild much at all. I've only been getting 2-4 grams per plant with them finishing about 16-18inches. i think it has something to do with my light setup also which will be redone in my new cab thats on its way, and my nutes. Im using alask It also takes about 10 weeks or more to finish with 10-20% amber.

Thanks for the help everyone! Thundurkle, you have some nice grows going, cant wait to grow like that! I wouldnt mind having a goo strain, but i get a lot of what is called goo on the street here from northern cali, not the greatest weed, but i think i can grow better weed than anything i can buy.

Even my Purple Haze stopped stretching when I sprayed her with kinetin, and she's a very stretchy bitch! I'd also strongly recommend you use a lot of side-lighting. Get some 2 foot T8 fixtures and surround the plant with them. Walmart sometimes carries a 2 foot shop light that comes with bulbs in it already. Great supplemental lighting at the least. Side-lighting seems to do wonders for slowing stretch. Also keep your lights more blue tone to reduce stretch. Keeping temperatures under control also helps.

As for a source of Kinetin, look for Bonide's "Tomato & Blossom Set Spray" I would caution you not to use it any more than directed, and also keep in mind that it probably works better on sativas than indicas. Still, I've never had it cause a problem in 6 years of using it, nor have any of the people I know in real life. I have *heard* of problems though, just have never seen them. It can be found at Ace Hardware.

Magic-thanks for the info, i'll read up on that some more. I like the idea of adding some 2ft flouros for side lighting, i may try this once its up and running.

Sorry noob here and I am reading until my eyes bleed(Trying to learn all I can)

Can someone please explaine what this statement means:
"Don't go with auto flower strains cuz you want to have a mom I would imagine to keep supplying your garden with quality clones. "

Can you not still Clone from auto flower?

Thanks!

That's a reasonable question :) When you keep a mom to provide clones, you keep the mom in a vegetative light period so it doesn't flower. Auto flowering strains flower based on how old they are, not based on the hours of light per day like regular strains. If you take a cutting of an auto and place it in vegetative light it will flower regardless of light cycle. Hope that clears it up.

I still yet to order seeds, but had a few things come up finacially, but hope to get some good genetics soon. Im starting to get my cab a lil more dialed in, but am still working with 2 different bagseed strains for my perpetul sog. Thanks for all the input. Kuroth-hope your learning and enjoying your new addiction!
