I am interested in living in Alaska. I have had an offer over the years that keeps popping up is a strange gig where I would (likely) live in Anchorage and fly for a two week assignment on the North Slope. I would make as much as I do now (which is pretty good) but only have to work two weeks per month. On the down side is living in a camp for two weeks. On the good side is two weeks off. On the down side, if I am off two weeks I will spend money the whole time I am off and would want to take trips to nice places (like Hawaii) so I wouldn't save much. Hell, I am semi retired anyway and just looking for adventures anway. Alaska is a smokey place from what I read. Never been there.

a good buddy of mine workss on the n-slope for BP/Shell....he works the 2 week on 2 weeks off thing, but BP requires that the 2 weeks off he doesnt work so he is paid when off too.

Is this only for U.S citizens? I live in Southern Europe and might have a friend who's very interested. He has a master in economy, but the job market sucks here these days - so he's up for anything! This sounds perfect for him.
