O ben ttech, great master of debate and vocabulary, please lower yourself to my level for a moment to understand the words of a simpleton and let me tell a story of failure and success...

When I was but a wee lad, I first learned to use Microsoft Word and the wondrous thesaurus function contained within. I was amazed and amused at the new found grandeur in my words, for a simple word that made complete sense in a written sentence could be transformed into the word of a collegiate professor. Furthermore, this word would proceed to confound any teacher who would have the misfortune of reading my grandiose writings to the detriment of my grade on said paper. Quickly, I learned that using large words, that did not fit into the sentence I was attempting to form, did nothing to improve my standing or perceived intelligence with said teacher.

Soon, I learned to use better vocabulary, not wherever I felt it would make me appear more intelligent, but only in places where it improved the level of comprehension to my audience.

Life was never the same.........


Soon, soon, o great and mighty ben ttech, I may continue with a story of debate, and the importance of staying on topic and addressing actual points, rather than blathering on in a drunken state as if making a failed toast at a philosopher's wedding.
