have you ever had a runt (seedling) ever turn out to be one of your biggest producers? I could use the space to concentrate on the ones that are doing well if the 2 smallest seedlings dont have much chance of over-taking the current largest/healthiest babies.

thinking about culling on of my unconfirmed male or female Serious Seeds - Chronic. That would leave me with just one :) amd on of my blue mystic.

anyone, ever had the runt turn out to be your best plant in the long run?

thanks all!

these are all about 3 weeks old, its been another week and the largest ones are making bigger gains against the runts still. Also, i moved the runts right under the light... which seems to have kickstarted them a bit...

sorry about the misspellings in the title. when i went back to do an advanced edit it would not allow me to save. the title should read:

Will a Runt ever grow up to 'be something' or should i just cull it now?

and i wanted to make the pictures larger. there is a runt Chronic in there and runt Blue Mystic.

Thanks for the help people!

Ive had great luck with runts, don't throw any of them away man, be patient. They will pick up when they are in flower IMO. I think you will be happy ;)

If you have the room...keep your runts. Many times they have become superb plants that eventually become a mothers for years to come.

remember growing about 20 plants or something while living at a mates house years ago....he had planted some seeds before i moved in and only had one seed grow....i got there and broke out the seeds and grew the rest...he would always say he wanted to kill his cause it was a runt and was doing nothing while mine where powering on....

well in the end after saving his plants neck it turned out to be the best out of the lot....he was glad i made him leave it alone....just wish i had the brains to take a clone...

had many since then and before that where runts but picked up in the end and turned out great....right now i have many runts and i wont kill them off....mostly cause they had a hard up bringing...yes ive been a bad father =/.....HH. =-~

I've had runts, mutants, and slow veggers, that all turned around and became great plants. I had one plant that was so fucked up in it's early days that you would literally have been unable to identify it as pot. It grew only a single finger on each fan, no serrations on the edges. It also was all twisted and gnarly. Then, one day, it just magically started growing like a pot plant again. It turned out to be a male, but that's not really the point, as from seed 50% of them will be anyway...

I had a runt a grew from seed, it was 2 months old and 2 inches tall, put it in its own pot, and BOOM within 2 weeks it grew to match my other plants in size. Granted it was my fault it was a runt, but I'm glad I didnt kill it, turned out to be a girl.

I heat stressed a plant into a "runt" and it was only about 1/3rd the size of the others 4 weeks into veg. It has since taken off and is the most vigorous plant I have.

I didn't read the posts, but I'm sure most will agree, some of my smallest runt seedlings turned into THE best smoke ever. Alot of top top elite cuts are small producers. It could also be unhappy in it's soil etc, so it may explode once transplanted.

you never really know till its done especially if its from seed since different phenos grow at different rates.

My experience shows little runty plants usually turn out to be girls! I'll have some big fat nice looking plants, and males every time! (almost) Lucky you! Sounds like nice strains.

Man, if you check my gallery of the three stooges in the bathtub, the one in the middle was a runt! I threw it in my little flower box because it "fit" and I didn't have much hope for it. Next thing I know its growth began to explode and it had the biggest fan leaves I have ever seen from anything I have grown. The plant smelled up the whole house in the last two weeks of harvest (dunno if that was good though) and even turned purple. By far my favorite plant I ever grew and the only one I have never taken a clone :(

I had a runt that turned out to be quite a bit more potent than her 4 or 5 sisters I can't remember the strain. The erb was much better but it was nothing I wanted to continue. When pheno hunting to do a large grow of only one pheno I look at quality, yield and finishing time in my first set of clones after the seedplants. The runt passed the first test but flunked the second and third badly

Yum Yum!!!! Sour Lavender!!

Yum Yum!!!! Sour Lavender!!

I'm just finishing out some sour lavender and I had a little bonzi that I wasn't to sure about. I just left it there to see what it would do and it is the most chronic little plant!! It's the only one from it's stain to purp-out from the Lavi in it. I say wait till it buds, if it looks like b.s. after the bud-sites start to fill in...you might want to ditch it if room is an issue. it's just very hard for me to kill off somthing that is living and trying to thrive.

I've had some plants from old seed having a real hard time getting started. Once they get going though some can really take off.
