ok for this time around on my 3 week old plants I made a mix of compost tea that consists of 1/2 tsp of fish emulsion 5-1-1, a 3/4 tbsp of bat guano 10-2-1, maxi crop liquified seaweed extract 0.1-0.0-1.0, 1 tbsp of grandmas molasses, and just under 1 cup of EWC, is this to strong to weak or just right for a 3 wk old plant nutethanks ahead of time guys

why are you giving all that stuff to 3 week old plants? just felt like blowing some money?

You know they won't defy the laws of nature just because you blow money on them right? at four weeks, they will be 4 weeks, not 10 weeks just because you over feed. At 3 weeks, I would just use compost tea. That's it. Molasses and compost and water and oxygen. Save the agave nectar for making brownies out of black beans and high end chocolate (damn those are good!).

lol, u know what I think u r right, about both things, I think I will just use straight molasses, and EWC, and oxygen, but I already got the batch with all that other stuff brewing I hate to waste it but I think u r rightsince its in just a gallon of water if I add another gallon will that dilute the concentration at like 50 % would it be ok to use then? this week they will all be a month old any way but I do want to start out with very diluted nutes and wrk my way updo u think I should dilute the solution at 75 % ? or 50% or should I just throw it awayI figure they'll be a month old in like 3 or 4 days so it shouldn't be to early I have a batch of molasses and EWC, brewing right now for my young 3 day old seedlingsthanks for the insight

do you have any non-weed plants? a garden? I would be putting that nute mix on my lettuce, which in my zone (CT coast) is now ready for nutes because it got a head start under a row cover. My roses are also waking up, and they wouldn't mind it, though they get plenty of coffee grounds. Bleeding hearts, daffodils, etc... are all waking up around my town, and your tea is perfect for them.

I just started my first "grow", so I don't know if they will tolerate your tea, but i do know that a 3 week old seedling doesn't need all that fancy stuff. Generally, my rule is that something with no benefit can only cause harm, because every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Your compost tea recipe is pretty much what I use for watering my rooted cuttings when I first transplant them into #5 SmartPots using my soil mix (coconut coir, organic compost, organic earthworm castings, pumice, kelp meal, Canadian glacial rock dust and a bit of a general fertilizer from Down-To-Earth (their "Bio-Fish") product).

About the only main suggestion that I would make would be to discard the 'fish emulsion' and use a fish enzyme (aka fish hydrosylate) as you'll get much better fungi growth (important for root development) with fish enzyme and without all of the heavy metals (arsenic, lead, cadmium, et al.) that you get with fish emulsion - like the 'Alaska Brand' usually found at HomeDepot or Loew's.

Think of fish emulsion as a Yugo and fish hydrosylate as a Ferrari.

Grandmas Molasses is not unsulphered or organic. It contains a ton of sulphur which microlife dispise. You want organic unsulphered blackstrap molasses. Can be found in most health food stores.Just a heads up.Peace!!Oh yer tea sounds great minus the molasses.

I think you should ask your question in the "what is organic" thread.

I say you are an organic grower because of your approach, and not because you avoid certain products.

I could have sworn I picked some up the other day at the local grocery store. I always check to make sure it's unsulfured, and I'm pretty confident the brand was "Grandmas." It should say right on the bottle. Any PCC or Whole Foods would have it, but so does QFC and possibly Safeway.

yeah i definetly dont think the molasses is organic, but im really sure it is unsulphered, but im more worried about it being organic than anything

no need to apologize either gromer its all good it all depends on the areas we live in, on what products are available.

My only problem is that i need to no find out where in the heck a health food store is, hmmm

ill have to google that

so now i need black strap molasses, and hydrosylate fish enzyme, lol

wonder what itll be next week.
