Two Part GH - Premixed?

I'm just curious... How long can I have a two part mix 'sit' for. Is it plausible for me to mix up a huge batch of correctly ph'd fert and then use it as required? Or should I always just mix it right before I use it? I'm growing in DWC.

I WASNT AWARE THAT GH HAD A TWO PART FERT OR ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT A DIFFERENT GENERAL HYDROPONICS BEACAUSE ON THERE OFFICIAL WEB SITE THEY ONLY HAVE A DRY AND LIQUID ONE PART AND A THREE PART... AS FOR YOUR QUESTION I THINK IT WOULD BE O.K TO PRE MIX YOUR FERTS A FEW HOURS AHEAD OF TIME BUT NOT DAYS AHEAD.

gh nutes have to be used seperately or else you could risk the chance of nutrient lockup. spend the extra time and you will be able to reap the benefits later.

I'm with LDIZZLE on this one. I always add the Hardwater Micro first, then the Flora Bloom. Amendments (SM-90 and CalMag+) as needed. Well, in point of fact, I add SM-90 with every nute change and then I add Lucas and finally CalMag+...

This is a frequent question for new users in DWC and maybe someone aught to do a sticky on this funky question... :p

You can't put the nutrients together at full strength for any time whatsoever (that's why they come in separate bottles in the first place).

You could get some small containers and put the correct amount of bloom in a few small containers of the correct volume, and some micro in a few small containers of the correct volume, so you have them ready.

Dump the micro in the res, then dump the bloom in.

Can anyone link me to a thread where it explains in greater detail what happens when the mix sits together too long?
'Too long' is immediate. Florabloom is a different formulation, made to not require mixing of multiple parts.

The original three part (which you are using in Lucas fashion, w/ only 2 parts) is in separate bottles for a reason. They can only be mixed when diluted or they will combine in an unholy manner.

Seriously, actual horns will sprout from your head if you combine them in concentrated form.

Ok. That was a lie. But it isn't a lie to say that you can't mix them in concentrate form. Just say no.

LOL. That actually made me giggle a little.

I don't mean pre-mix the ferts together. I mean make the 'fert mix' a head of a time. So not just mixing bloom and micro together in a container. I'm actually getting a big reservoir of 90gallons of water or so and putting in the appropriate volumes of each fert so the 'mix' is ready ahead of time lol.

Does that make sense?

Ah... OK, sorry. Well, there shouldn't be a problem setting up a reservoir ahead of time, you would just need to add back any evaporated water, and not allow a ridiculous amount of water to evaporate prior to adding back (or you would get to such high nute concentrations that you would experience lock out).

Certainly you could mix it as far ahead of time for as long as a a couple of crops would take to carry through bloom (folks have gone as many as three crops on a res, w/o changing, only adding back nutes).

You may want to have a pump circulate the storage res so everything stays mixed. I used to be really lazy and ran recirc drip systems and changed out my res every 2 weeks w occasional top offs and never had much of a problem.
