G guest 77721 Apr 24, 2009 #3 50 w/sqft is the rule of thumb for flowering and 15-25 w/sqft for vegging. So a 150 is good for 3 sqft, a 250 for 5, etc.... I've run 75w/sqft using a 150 HPS and 50 - 100 w/sqft with CFL's. More light above the minimum gives higher yeilds but double light doesn't mean double yields.
