mate there are so may ways to do this.

some people even just put the seeds straight to soil ... but here's how I do it...

soak the seeds in luke warm water for 24 hours. the ones that sink are USUALLY the ones that are going to sprout but don't give up on the others right away.

next I put them on a saucer between moist tissue paper (luke warm again - I actually use the same same from the soak), cover with another suacer and leave in a WARM place for 24 hours before checking again. I check every 24 hours (usually takes no more than 48 hours) and when I see sprouts that are around 2cm (half an inch) long I plant them root down. They usually break the surface in the next day or so.

good luck and happy growing
j

P.S if this is your first grow, be patient mate. WW and Mazar can be a little tricky. I've seen us newbies struggle with Mazar more than once (best to look around at other mazar grows to see what works and what doesnt) I think its that they're picky eaters and don't like too much of anything. Same can be said of the WW, don't feed them heavily (I use half strength on my WW)

P.P.S dont feed them anything at all until you see slight yellowing in the case of coco plants and maybe rockwool, though I never used rockwool (usually I start to feed after 3 or 4 days on a qtr strentgh feed with rhizo) and if they're going to soil, no feed for at least 5 days or until you see yellowing. As you grow more, you'll start to know when to feed without waiting to see the slight yellowing, but as a newbie, I find its the best indicator for me that theyre hungry..

P.P.P.S different seeds you'll notice are different sizes too. Also some have thicker shells than others. Germination times can be affected for many various reasons. In the case of Low Ryders for example, you can expect them to take a week to sprout, and actually I just had one pop up after some 18 days...

First off I want to thank you for your help and your advice.
I am using a 400w for this.
Hydro-Drip system.
3x3x6 growtent
foxfarm nutes
reverse osmosis water

Question::
At this point can I put them under my 400w?? and I've read to put the light about 3-4 feet away from plant.
At what point do I turn on my drip system ?? thanks!

I lost my first 6 seeds to stupidity help me not loose more!!

Thanks agen.

ok first thing is... I know absolutely nothing about Hydro and you need a Hydro grower to answer your questions properly

My advice would be to hold off germing until you have a base plan for the first 2 weeks. ie when you're going to plant them in the cubes, when you start feeding. how much you'll feed

What I can tell you is, that if you're vegging under that 400watter, it needs to be as far as you can get it from the plants. 3 foot plus is good. gradually you'll lower the light (inch by inch) but this will happen a bit later on when theyre big enough to cope. you can put them under the light as soon as they're in pots or cubes/trays/whichever

the other thing I know for sure is that when using inert mediums (like coco and rockwool) you need to start feeding eariler as there is nothing of nutritional value in either substrate.

if I were you, I would go make a post in the Hydro section and start reading other hydro newbie grows and see what they did wrong and what advice they got. this will put you ahead of the problems you will almost certainly face and will be less stress when they happen. Things like pH ing for example and checking ppms and EC. I hope you already started thinking about that and have a way to test them... its fundamental when not growing in soil (and even when growing in soil, just a bit less so)

Thanks I'll make a post there and read up, I thought I was prepared but I kinda dropped the ball on some of the stuff I needed.
I still need to get a 4" inline fan for my cooltube but I can't find an affordable one.

I've purchased a Ph test kit but as for the PPMS and EC i have nothing to test that.

Do you recommend anything I can purchase online to test ppms,EC?

I'll see if I can't get some of these questions answered.

here's a good place to start reading about introducing feeds mate. this guy is just ahead of you, so if you follow his grow it'll show you whats next
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=119345

as far as I know, the only way to test EC/ppms is with a pen meter - they cost around 50 bucks

mate, we ALL dropped that ball on the first few weeks... no one ever told you about half th stuff you'll need to get this growing thing going  ... just the clips, chains, hooks rolls of tape and other small crap alone mounts up very quickly... I'm about 2 weeks away from my first ever crop (growing in coco) and I can tell you mate, stick with it and if necessary go without stuff to make sure you're doing things right (I seriously missed a dinner or two at the beginning). Some things you just HAVE to attend to mate. Heat, air circulation, humidity, feed testing equipment, theres a LOT to learn and I don't thnk the learning will ever stop... then again, what do I know, I'm only a tiny bit less new than you are
