Mrs.Swamp would add butterbeans and tomato relish to that mixture.

And yess, we have THE best food in the world. I have had all the ethnic foods and delicacies. But you add all the soul food and not to mention that the Gulf of Mexico does indeed have the best seafood and fish within.

God I love cornbread (no sugar please) and fried okra.

DAMN are you really a yankee[no offense intended I married 2 of them....]

My kids are half yankee and we won't even go into the grandkid mix....LOL

Cause' ROJO I think you been down south a lot and are becoming SOUTHERNIFIED!

But that ain't neccessarily a bad thing ya know????? LOL:woohoo:

Mr and Mrs Swamp can explain it better than me te he.

Butter beans and Chow Chow.....it don't get no better than that....Damn Swamp you married a true classy southern lady you lucky dog you

You better be nice to her cause granny is moving closer to you soon2012... as my son bought me a condotel on Ft Lauderdale Beach....

And Hulk Hogan's mother thinks she is lucky living now "on the BAYSHORE" in Tampa....A side note and certainly off subject AGAIN...WTF is goin' on with the HULK as his behavior lately is getting BIZARRE!!!!!

But WE SOUTHERNERS don't put that sugar in our cornbread like they do up north.....but I do like it both ways. I love Hush Puppies myself with a mess of fried catfish and fries....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

But the leftover corn bread is a snack later that night with milk or buttermilk....

OKRA fried is quite great and another southern delicacy introduced by African slaves who really did not wanna visit the south....but they made the best of it and a lot of Texas and Louisiana Cuisine that is now considerd gourmet was introduced by the slaves so we do owe them for that. I don't see much difference in Southern Food and Soul Food...but I ain't never ate chitterlin's and don't intend to start. NOR POSSUM!!!! te he

But I am southern and can't be cured of it so ppl here from ALL OVER THE WORLD in florida....deal with it as we ain't gonna change. LOL

Nor do we expect you to change.....

But I love food from all over the world and my favorites are Indian and Vietnamese as they are 2 of the healthiest and spicy like I like it. But D is a very picky eater who only eats ABOUT 5 things and that ain't exaggerating.

Swamp we have "Po Folks" restaurant here in p county and it is perty good!

WARNING!!!!! If your partner eats butterbeans and chow chow......you might not wanna sleep in the same bed OR ROOM that night if you get my point!!!!!

SLIDELL you gotta be shitten' I have been to Slidell even....I am a Louisiana lover anyway as I worked on the Houston Ship Channel making big bucks and on the weekend we would go to the horse races in Louisians as it was not legal in Texas. My sisters husband built oil storage along the Gulf Coast and I used to visit her in various towns in Louisiana. Some of the best damn food in the world. Damn ROJO YOU ARE half ---- ass. It ain't PC no more but I worked in the refinery with ppl from Louisiana and that is what they call themselves. Like Redneck in Texas ain't an insult.....in Florida it is.

Damn ROJO no wonder you are so rascally.....Part southern and part yankee.....my kids also....but they are cool kids and I am proud of them.

Do you like the song Jolie Blon and can you talk Cajin?

Full english, with poached eggs and hash browns, need i say more?

You need a seasoned black iron skillet for good hash browns. Blacken them babies....in Louisiana they Blacken everything.....I gotta go home to Texas soon and eat my way through Loisiana. Best Bread Pudding in the world there. I just love Emeril......BAM! Kick it up a notch!

Let's talk about hashbrowns............... I love them, but can't for some reason cook them like some restaurants do. We have a Pig n Pancake on the coast that we drive 100 miles one way, just for the hashbrowns.

WOW Emmy that is quite an avatar.....that should get peckers off the couch.

But I fry my hashbrowns in peanut oil or real butter.[margarine SUX]
And butter is actually healthier. IMHO
I peel and slice my taters in thick slices and chop them up with a spatula when they start to soften in the hot iron skillet.. I used to put onions and green peppers in also.....but my new man likes them plain.
But I start out with my iron skillet on high and brown the taters and then after they brown on the outsides I turn it down some so they cook all through. But I like my taters kinda crispy so I cook mine well.
That is why they call them Hash Browns, Some ppl grate the taters but not me.

Homefries are a little mushier and less crispy.

And then I put Crazy Jane Salt or Paula Deen Salt but garlic salt will do...on them and fresh ground pepper.....YUMMMMMM!

Sometimes I top it with cheese.....not a good diet food FO SHO!

Do you wanna learn how to cook grits!

GRIT=Girls Raised In The South.....te he

and we don't sleep with our cousins.....LOL

good mornin' madre..when's breakfast..

Hey Groady Ho.....you guys make me laugh. I am drinkin' my Earl Grey tea and smoking a good one and my man is snoring in the bed. He is on the Nutri System diet and no fun these days te he....but I do cook a good southern breakfast. On the farm breakfast was a big deal....had to eat them carbs to be able to pick cotton all day in the hot Texas sun....my parents were cotton pickers. Glad I got out of that life but that left us southerners with a taste for southern cookin' and now it is killin' us with all that cholesterol and fat. Goes right to the ass in my case. I need a J Lo butt transplant,,,,te he

But I prolly will get a chicken biscuit at Mc Donalds on the way to get the grandkids as I am babysitting today as usual.....but Mothers Day off and goin' upstate :woohoo::woohoo:
