Frisian Dew (May 25th Start)

First of all, Hi! Just joined the forum today, hoping to get some advice on a planned grow starting next month :)

I'm moving to Switzerland (near Geneva) and i'm hoping to set up my first grow outdoors. The weather in the spring/summer is great, loads of sun and plenty of rural places to set up my guerilla grow. However i won't be looking to germinate my seeds until 25th May. This is my first question - do you consider this to be too late? Or will i just experience a lower yield than if i had planted earlier?

Secondly, i contacted a seedbank in Basel asking which straing they would recommend for the Swiss climate, taking into account when i am starting and that i am a beginner. They recommended Frisian Dew, which from what i have read is mold resistant and produces relatively high yields. Would anybody else recommend this strain to someone in my situation?

Thanks, and if all goes to plan i'll be keeping you updated with photos :D

hi longone and welcome to icmag...

to answer your 1st question... it's not too late, but yes your yield will suffer.. if you can, start them under the lights anf put them out mid june and you can get normal size plants with good yield.. germinating them 25th may and have them under the Sun and puting out mid june will result in lower yield and plants. that's my experience, maybe someone will correct me..

Frisian Dew will be ok, I have it myself for 46N latitude, just like Geneva... this is a link to search results for FD:

http://www.icmag.com/ic/search.php?searchid=6787280

look into THC123's and Shevek threads.......

it should finish by end sept to mid oct...

Now i googled Geneva and on some sites it says it's on high altitude but 380m isn't real high for my perception...

however dutch passion sells 2 new, high altitude strains, Pamir Gold and Snow Bud, which they say selection was done in Swiss Alps and are mold and mildew resistant...

but I guess you are good with FD....

hope that helps a bit.

yeah i would go for frisian it's expensive but worth it.

I am doing my second grow with them.

Lots of phenos

and like supersonic says it finishes 25sept-15 oct , depending on the phenotype.

Yield is excellent

High and taste too except for the dark purple pheno , i hate it , tastes like earth

The other ones smell from sweet , fresh to candy

Thanks for the advice about the lights, i was hoping to not use lighting but if i can obtain a small set-up for relatively cheap it sounds like it will be worthwhile.

The altitude will be around 900-1000m as its in the Portes Du Soleil area near Geneva. I had a look at that snowbud and think i might try that also as it seems to be developed for needs like mine.

Also thanks for the recommendation on the strain THC123, being new to growing its nice to know what to expect should my efforts pay off!

Regards

hi

you can use a few cfl lights for young plants and after 3 weeks you'll have really nice plants to put out.. very simple...

if you click on my name and under my old gallery is a picture of really primitive cfl veg system but with very nice plants in it...

Hey longone , i forgot to mention one thing. The number one reason i like the FD is its resistance to mold. Compared to other plants it doesn't mold much
