Smoking Bud From A Re-vegged Plant?

Whatchall's opinion on this situation....I am revegging 8 plants at the moment....I am waiting until the harvested buds from these girls get a couple week cure before sampling them to see which plant is the best.

After about a two week cure, I will sample a nug from one girl each night to get a feel for her stone/high. So, that will add about another week to the re-veg, for about a total of 3.5 weeks of re-veg. After sampling all of them, I will pick a winner, and continue to re-veg her and then take clones.

So....what about all the little buds on the 7 girls who are going to get the toss? What will have happened to these buds after having spent almost a month out of 12/12 and into 24/0 light regimen? Does the THC degrade? Does anybody have any real idea what happens to the buzz-ability of buds put through this ringer?

All opinions are welcome, but especially those who have actually done the aforementioned deed. Thanks for playin... :)

Are you talking about the 10% or so that you leave behind when you harvest? If you are, then from personal experience I would have to say that there is some loss in potency, but it's not too bad. I needed a smoke real bad back in March and took some of the dried brown buds from my re-veg and smoked'em. The smoke was a bit harsh and the taste wasn't the best, but it definitely got the job done. Oh, and they had been in reveg since early December so by that time they were already in 12/12 with some new buds showing too.

OK....thanks for that Canna.

I will likely harvest the little buggers and cure them a bit like regular buds, so maybe that will help with the harshness.

Anybody else?

90% of my revegges don't happen, and I end up smoking the buds :D Ususally they are pretty much dead and dry on the plant when I decide to give up, so no need to cure!, lol.

Have you detected any difference in the reveg buds? Any deficiencies compared to the other harvested buds from that same plant?

Also...that sucks that 90% of your reveg's don't happen. How long do you give 'em before giving up on them? And what kind of light do you try to reveg under...I have seen threads on revegging that suggested having a strong light is important. That would suck for me, I am doing it under a weak ass 2 tube T12 flourescent.

I'll tell you the 2 successful re-vegges, and what happens to the buds when the plants die. If I told you all of the ways that I COULDN'T re-vegg....

1 was a MrN Spice plant (indy dom) that I put from 12/12 into 20/4 and jammed it into a rubbermaid tub with a 42w cfl. The plant didn't show any signe of wilt, and after the first signs of new growth (prolly ~10 days), I transplanted into an extra gallon of soil, and put her in the sun ~last may.

Then I lost all kinds of SSH's and an Ogk x g13/h male, and a Mango Widow...

I pulled a MrN EQ (clone) that was ~5 weeks in flower, and put her back in veg. The cut that I had wilted, and I wanted to keep the strain. 2 months later, she is doing the re-veg, and I want to up pot her and get her in the sun ~next week. It is alive, and super green, and vegging, but still not really clonable.

I JUST lost my fave SSH cut. I had had her for ~18mo, flipped a mom, and the clones all died. Then on teh re-veg, it finally wilted away (rusty/orangey-yellowey on the leaves, eventually turning crispy. I had cut the buds, and topdressed with ~a cup of castings, and some AP 4-3-3 organic fert, and some plant success. I was giving the plant the 12hours of bloom, followed by 2hrs of dark, then ~3hrs direct sunlight, and 3hrs indirect. Then on the stove, jammed up against the 26w cfl for ~4hrs before back in bloom boom. 2 weeks later, I have these rusty buds that smoke like hay, but get me lifted, cause I been smokin trim and 3rd run hash...

If I had good success re-vegging, that's how I would start my plants for outdoor. Once the plant started to crank, you have DOZENS of clones.

I just did it and im stoned.

It was my 2nd time revegging since my first attempt didnt go so well. I barely left anything on the first attempt so on the second attempt i left more..

,,,, more meaning like an 1/2 ounce! maybe more on 2 or 3!!!! as the time went by and a few never started showing any signs of growth i decided to trim them up and save em.

Perfectly good smoke! to the bone! and i didnt add any nutes to them since i was just revegging so they got a great flush

Why leave buds on to reveg? Is it necessary for the plant to reveg?

my friend has a clone he took form a mom 2-weeks into flower. He's had it under 24 for 10 weeks, and it refuses to grow, still like 3".

When re veggin the plants the bud sites left will produce a branch/stalk out of the centre of each bud so the more you leave on the more branches youll have for cuttings etc...also ive found tht lights left on 24/7 for reveg works best...as for smoking the left over re veg buds..its fine..in fact ive found the buds to develop interesting color and different flavours if in reveg ..probably the change from HPS to flourecent as well as temp change...the buds seem to be heavier in the stone aswell

Oh understandable, didn't think about that. I was just thinking revenging to keep the genetics alive and cloning after it vegges for a bit :p That's what I'm gonna have to do, wasn't sure if it was necessary to leave a bunch on or no, so I'm figured I can leave 2 or 3 on cause I only need a couple branches to start.

Yep just leave what you need on ...but dont cut too much off and over stress your reveggin plants...id leave a minimum of 4 branches on myself just to be safe

I have smoked the little bit of buds off of some of my reveg projects, and compared to what everyone else says, I must have just left them on there for too long. Yes, they did get me a buzz(not as good of one as the buds I harvested originally), but the flavor was terrible. I mean, it was just short of smoking leafer.
