-I started my girls on 3/1/09 from seed. After showing taproots they were put into rapid rooters. After the roots started coming out of the sides of the rapid rooters the plants were transplanted directly into 1.5L pots of Happy Frog potting soil. The light cycle was 24/0 until they reached their third set of true leaves and then they were changed to on for 14hr. and 15 min. and off for 9hr. 45 min. The change is to get them acclimated to their future outdoor photoperiod. The first signs of problem showed up about 2 weeks in and on only one plant. It started with the fan leaves losing their waxy coating and drying up. Next the leaves turn brown, curl up, and die. The first signs started before they had been fed anything. On the lower half of the plants and it only affects the fan leaves. The problem moves slowly up the plant killing all of the fan leaves. I initially thought the problem was some sort of rust and sprayed all of the plants with an organic fungicide. This didn't stop the problem on the one that had problems but none of the other plants were showing any signs of problem. Then I noticed two other plants showing early signs and one of them was a C99. So now one biddy early has lost all except two sets of fan leaves and one biddy early and one c99 are showing very early signs. The worst biddy early has been removed from the room. During this they were fed twice with a solution of 1stp. Alaskan fish fertilizer per gallon of water, once a week. The feedings were started at 17 days and they were slightly yellowing. The feedings were stopped 2 weeks ago now they are watered with just plain bottled water. I hope I gave enough info I need a solution ASAP my entire season depends on these plants. Thanks.
-Would it be safe to clone before the problem is resolved?
-Should I avoid using clones from the affected plants if I can get enough from the others?

They don't look horrible yet! Cheer up! :D

From what I skimmed through and read, it sounds like pH issue perhaps? Maybe it's the fungicide, but I have no experience with that.

PH issues can cause the symptoms you describe. It would be best to rule this out. Take a sample of the the water that runs off into the bottom saucer after watering and test the pH of this. In soil, should be around 6.6 range, although opinions differ.

If pH runoff OK, I would flush pots with pH adjusted water, and see what happens. Did you add Perlite 1/3 to the Happy Frog? I can't remember. That is good to use in case you need to flush your soil.

Good luck, hope you save your season. Leave those damaged leaves on there as long as they are the least bit green, they are doing some good for your plant!

Thanks for the quick reply, I will pick up some test strips and check the ph. The only reason I'm skeptical that it is a ph problem is because all of the soil and water have a neutral ph. Also the first signs showed up before any nutes were used.

How about a pic of the whole plant? The leaves I've seen don't look too horrible. Sometimes, you can't sweat the small stuff! I had some Widows that lost lots of baby leaves, looked horrible, but as long as the new growth is lush, green and healthy, it seemed to work out good!

You need to know these to propery diagnose the issue. It could be calmag def, but thats the generic answer. Get a digital PH PPM combo pen.

1.5L pots of Happy Frog potting soil.

I always have this same problem with Happy Frog, I hate it. Every time I used it, this same crap happened.

I'd transplant into a mix of FFoF and Light Warrior into bigger pots like 5 gal at least and I bet they will stop doing that. I think Happy Frog is way acidic and has too much bark or something in it...Did I mention I don't like Happy Frog LOL

im bettin its the fungicide that did it. Ive had the undersides of leaves get black splotches when i applied that stuff. I think it was organoside that did it. It also sometimes made the top sides of my leaves splotchy with yellow. Real crazy lookin, almost thought it was a virus when i first enountered it.
