The revenue from a tax on MJ is a carrot that some in this community are dangling to make legalization more palatable. Lets just keep it real!
I think its a bad idea. But I don't really care as long as, like some of you say you would be able to grow and smoke and mind your own. I'm not gonna be in the market.
I heard Carlos Santana suggest that the tax money should go to schools. Which I would be 100% behind... but thats what they are supposed to do with the proceeds from the state lottery and in my state I just don't see it.
But whatever it take I guess. I've already lost a house, a truck, thousands of dollars in legal fees, all my equipment and to me priceless genetics. I just want to grow and smoke in peace.

If tax money went to what its suppose to go for then yeah.......That would be great. But I would literally BET MY LIFE the the schools would not see one dime. Nor would anything good. The money would be squandered on bullshit just like they do now and then they'll be looking for the next thing to tax "PROMISING" it will go to schools "this time" The NEVER do what they say they their gonna do. Its just another scam to grab more of our money.
The message is simple:

If ya want weed legalized............Smoke more and grow more. They can't arrest us all. OVERGROW the Government !!

I knew you weren't FOR new taxes in your post above........I was kind of rambling and sticking another thought out there. I tend to do this. LOL
Glad you went and had a good time. JULY 4th is the next one. And a march on Washington is in the works. We are looking to dwarf the million man march (which was never a million by the way) with 2 million lovers of freedom.
Our meassage will be simple:
NO NEW TAXES !! (gotta drive it home)

You're right, I didn't make myself very clear.
I should've said that when people get CAUGHT making money without reporting it, there's going to be an investigation of all income, properties, etc. You know how that goes. And l would go as far to say that atleast 30% of the population that is making money from growing and/or selling cannabis is not filing income taxes let lone have business licenses.If you want to start a legal business then you're in a whole other field. We've all subject to the same tax laws, only some folks aren't going to play by the rules.
We're in a unique situation to be at the ground floor of something that could make big changes in the way we live. The tax man will be something once we get that far. Like was said earlier, we already have seen the Tax Stamp issue but that was what.....60+ years ago? I think that AB390 is on the right track is trying to structure this as an industry. And I think that comparing it to home-brewing is appropriate as many will not produce much more than they consume.
If you have a store that sells a product, you pay sales tax. Figured into the price of that item is all the expenses it took to produce that item. If you sell to the store, you're a wholesaler, subject to no sales tax, but you pay income taxes. It's really pretty easy in that respect. What I can't see is to whom do these folks want to pay these taxes to, do they want to double the tax if it's for cannabis? And what are they expecting to gain from this? I can think of alot of ways to do good things rather than go thru the tax office. Make a voluntary contribution to a local charity thru your dispensary (tax write-off).
I guess it gets funny when you look at it like a food product, an agricultural product. Like we don't pay taxes on food. Yet we have some questionable "foods" like Pepsi that some people want to tax, a "sugar tax" more or less. And it'd be great to just legalize hemp while we're at it, that's where the industry of it is that can make big changes in our lives. Think of all the start-up businesses that could come from that as well as thru cannabis legalization.
I just hate to see this all get bogged down in red tape, buraucracy, etc. before we even get there. Maybe we should look at Amsterdam as one model of structuring this as an industry.

ive like ron paul for awhile...i remember checkin out a hightimes magazine and he had a ad on corruption and his next election....i wish he caught on mainstream
He would have if he didn't sound like he was "Whiiiiinnnnnniiiinnnnngggg" all the time. He has got to have the most irritating voice and whine I have ever heard (Next to Hillary) But then again.............. we got Barney Frank that sucked one to many dicks and now he slurs all his words like a total retard.
