Man the 40W Compact flouros are powerful. I underestimated the power and light scorched all my babies which is wierd cause not that much heat comes off the cool white bulb but the warm white runs much hotter I guessto much light for a small plant regarless can kill it if its to intense. I moved the light I think they will be find just gotta give them some time to recover!
I use all 42w CFLs in my main cab and 23w CFLs in my secondary cab, it's all about exhaust which I don't have!! I need to mount my fans and get my exhaust set up and my temps will be perfect but right now they sit at 85-90 !!!! But it's always been this way and you guys and gals see the quality I get so once I fix it maybe my girls will be happier

O damn LLcoolBud that sucks. I'm sure they'll be fine though, just keep 'em nice and watered for the next couple days while they recover.

Thundurkel, after reading yours along with many other CFL journals ive read.
I've started a nice little grow box project that should be up and running within the next week.
Its going to be running anywhere from 6-8 55w CFLs in the flower chamber and 2-3 55w in the veg room.
The 2 storage boxes ive attached togeather are 24" W x 35" T x 15" D each. So its a total of 48" W x 35" T 15" D.
I cant wait to play with my new genitics that just arrived.

Oh yeah there fine now I think it was mainly because i watered them with tap water instead of my RO it really fucked them up thats for sure but they recovered nicely and quickly after a re-potting and watering them.

Hey Thundurkel. Just needed to tell you how much your threads have taught me and inspired me to quit buying my meds and to grow. I hope I do as well as you and many others who leaned so much from Dr Bud. My main goal is to have a perpetual stealth micro grow that can sustain my personal needs. My cab will be done this week and then I'm ready to start with some bagseed for my first run. I've read almost every thread in the micro grow section of the forum here and think I have my head ready for this. Peace. Smoke well.
Good luck bro, best advice I can give you is get bricks of coco or get a soiless coco mix and use Flora Nova or Fox Farm nutes and you will get the best results... I'm keeping a small DrBud cab but I need to step things up a bit and I'm going to have a new cab in a month or so with 2 400w HPS or CMH and 24-32 1gal Air Pots with Coco and the Lucas formula with Flora Nova cuz I'm tired of fucking around with shit and I know that works great... I'll be using my DrBud cab for breeding and testing strains

Not yet actually I'm back on track using Flora Nova and my plants are happy as hell so I'm going to stick with the CFL cab for now but I am building a HID cab when my buddy loans me the money... Right now I want to run 16 Air Pots the small ones under my 252w of CFLs and hope to pull 9-10oz so we'll see.. Thanks for stopping by FreezerBoy there's been this fridge behind my apartments I've wanted to make a grow cab with but I don't have a garage...

Yea I love CFL growing and remember I was a noob about a year ago but thanks to ICMAG I know more techniques and grow styles than my buddies who have been growing big under HIDs for a few years. I'm the noob of the bunch and was totally laughed at when they saw what I was doing with the clones one of them gave me. But now it's like "damn this is just a bud from 6weeks of flowering? that shit is dense" "I didn't think CFLs could produce nugs that dense wow" so this summer will get interesting since I'm the only one willing to fuck around and try out different things. Which I guess is easier for me to do since I run the DrBud method and can do some different each week and not have a major loss if it goes bad, but if it gives me better results I can then just keep running that line up of nutes or whatever from there on out.

Thundurkel, how ya been my man? It's been a minute. Glad to see things are going well for you. Hey man, go with CMH for sure that's what I'm switching to on my next bulb change. Glad to hear you're adding HID lighting to your setup, you won't regret it.
I don't remember where I read it, but Dr. Bud himself said he'd use HID if he could. Of course he can, but I think it was when he was running off battery power and couldn't do it because of the power it requires. Don't know what my point was with that.... Except, expect bigger yields brother.

Yea HIDs look fun and all but the cola's I got in coco under my CFLs where just as big as main branches on any HID grow I've been around which were 1lb-2lbs a light so we'll see this summer how I do running coco while waiting for my loan. If I can get decent enough yields I may just stay with fluoros and do Air Pots which I'm diying to try out anyway I just know I could pull a oz per plant in the smallest ones if I can get 1/2oz in 16oz of coco. That being said in theory I could get a lb under 252w of CFLs which is unheard of yet I know but I think it's possible with the Air Pots and the right strain in coco

I think if you want to scale up in wattage, maybe you should just scale up in number of CFLs? I'm not even done with my first grow in my cab and I'm already thinking of building a massive CFL growcube... where there'd be a light mounted every foot or so in every direction except the floor. Build an inner glass cabinet. Put the plants in that. Put that in the light cube. I'll dust off my sketchup skills and make a prototype to show you.

I was just reading through this thread in the process of researching the Dr.Bud method, and had to mention that these are 3 of the prettiest pictures of weed I have ever seen. Particularly the purple ones.
