Superskunk crosses...

Here are some crosses I made using a smelly superskunk male on two landrace Sativa females.

The superskunk male was from seeds from top notch SS from a mate through his supplier. He was very fast to mature with good vigour and potent cheesy smell. I liked the bud a lot but I wanted to cross it to a very active pure sativa to get a better sativa high with the SS potency, resin and chunkyness.

Here he is

I pollinated this interesting Unknown Chinese Sativa female as I thought she was a good candidate.

Very dense nuggs for a pure sativa. Very trippy high and potent. She was not very resinous though... I hoped the very crystaline SS would help there.

I grew a few f1's and used the best male on the two best females. These are the F2's testers here.

Very Indica expression. Stretchy and stinky like chees, like a twin of the SS father.

More Sativa looking ones, More what I'm aiming for...

New arrivals. Looks to be an Indi dom, the bottom one.

I also pollinated a Rooibaard female I found growing outside from builders seeds thrown down. Growing in bad soil but she was good looking. Full red stems and petioles. Nice swollen calyxes with good resin and bright red hairs.

I just made the cross as an experiment. I friend has some huge ones outside. It's seems the red stems and petioles from the Rooibaard are quite dominant. His one's looked very good so I was inspired to test my own. 5 down, one male so far and one very nice looking pheno in f1.

These are f1 testers.

This is the best pheno so far. Looks like a good mix of both parents. Good solid stems and new growth. More sativa looking than the SS and the colouration of the Rooibaard in the stem and petioles.

Very stretchy pheno

Showing only a little red

Smaller but nice looking pheno. I like the look of the leaves...

The runt. Weak from the start.

That's it for now. Hope you enjoy it.
I'll keep it updated as much as I can for those who are interested.

Very nicely done!!! I want to cross my MSS clone from a club with some African Sativas I just got from AfroPips. Their Nigerian and Malawi. Great inspiration and motivation Herbman!!

Thanks for the kind words guys!
I didn't get the camera back so pics will have to wait till Sunday.

BENJI and Rainman, What are your views on the Superskunk in general?

Nice plans with the MSS Rainman, hope they turn out well. I'm sure you can expect heavy yields crossed to a big African Sativa.

Cheers, Ah.

Herbman - This will be my first round with any Skunks as the main plant. I purchased Nigerian, Malawi, Khmer Gold(Cambodian), Mexican and Congolese sativas to throw them all together for a few open pollination rounds. Then I was gonna cross the best Sativa genes with the best Skunk I find from 4 packs of seeds I just got. Skunk#1, Superskunk, Skunk Special, and Shit. The MSS is from a club in the area and I have no experience with her yet.

irieeyes808 and Dfa, thanks guys!
That sounds like some interesting work Rainman! I like the sound of those Sativas just by themselves.
If you find a very large producing sativa with massive heads and add some weight to her by crossing her with a good producing, solid SS. Then you will have a great yielder I think.

Anyone know the indi/sat ratio of SS? I heard it was just Skunk#1 crossed to a pure Afghan indica. That would mean +- 60% Indica if Skunk is 75% sat, 25% indi. I suppose 62.5% Indica theoretically.

I went to visit an old small guerilla plot I abandoned when I moved a while ago. I had one female Chinese Sativa x SS going there amongst others. I was very pleased to see them doing excelently with nothing but rain for the last few months.
She was producing some nice chunky, crystally buds and smelling awsome and sweet like berrys and kinda like that sweet smelling childrens playdough. I took 2 tester buds and will go back for harvest in about 2.5 weeks. I'll also try take the camera for some cool shots of some outdoor grown Chinese sativa x SS f1 under the African sun.

Wow, I really like the looks of those plants. You are right, they are very interesting and unusual.

I just started a Thai x Supre Skunk cross from G13 Labs. Very tiny seeds.

whitebox, thanks for the kind words man.
Yea, seeing how the seeds evolve and grow showing different expressions from each parent/s and each plants specific characteristics is why I like making these crosses.

TheHashAssassin, good to see you here, I haven't tested many yet but from what I've seen so far, the flowering time of the CS has been bought down drastically with the addition of the SS. The CS came down at about 120 days if I remember correctly. The father was very fast to mature and drop pollen.

I never counted how long the F1's went but I would guess around 80 days or so.
The f1's all had a very sweet candy like aroma with a floral, perfume like scent to them. A nice pleasant smell and quite surprising. The mother had a delicate vanilla and perfume like smell when cured and the father was very smelly cheese and Indica stinkyness.

hansel, thanks for stopping by. It's good to see you have a Thai x SS. I hope it turns out DANK for you.
It's interesting about the tiny seeds. The Chinese sativa I used also came from and produced tiny dark seeds. The f1's I made were from the mothers pure sativa calyxes so were also very small and dark. The f2's were a little fatter and lighter from the 50% Superskunk.

The camera didn't get returned on the weekend like intended so I hope it's back sometime during the week so I can make some updates.

Regards all, Ah.

Finally got the camera back...

Here's 2 confirmed Rooibaard x Ss females coming along nicely. They both have nice red stems.

Here's pheno 1. Not as heavy red in stems as pheno 2 strangely.

This is pheno 2. She has surprised me. This is what she last looked like, with almost no red coloration:

Now here's what she looks like now:

Already some resin forming.

That's all for now.

Nice them stems have purpled up is it cold were your at?
Bout another 2 weeks and my Superskunk x sensistar beans will be ready 4 testing also crossed my superskunk with a nice critical mass male looking 4ward to both crosses..

Thanks guys!

BENJI, my temps here are still warm. The Rooibaard's red stem seems to be a strong trait.
I have another female inside with green stems but bright pink petioles.

I will be going to harvest a little Chinese sativa x SS in the bush in a few weeks time which I'm looking forward to. Took 2 tester nugs when I was there last and although young and lacking a good cure, they were very enjoyable.

I was surprised how much of the Chinese sativa high came through. Very much like the mother but with a good solid grounding from the ss father.

Regards, Ah.

Hey all, here's what they look like now.

My chosen Chinese sativa x Super skunk f2. Needs a bit of juice

Pollenated with with this nice male which I was very lucky to find in the same f2's. I like his structure and very tight clusters with good resin.

A little later.

And this is the best Rooibaard x SS looking tasty. She's got a very strange but amazing smell.

Cheers, Ah.
