Would DrBud's method work with 3"x3"x4" square pots

So I've been wanting to switch over to these 3"x3"x4" 1/6 gal square pots to do the HD SOG cuz I'd wrather top dress with guanos then dunk every container.. I was planning on doing the Rev's "Sticky Sides" brushing the walls of my containers with a mix of 2tbs of moleasses per quart of water. Then stripe them with bone meal and blood meal or guanos depending on what stage of growth your girls are about to be in. For 3" and 4" square pots he says 1tsp of dry all purpose 5-5-5 on the floor is great and allows the plants to get pretty large in small containers while staying healthy... So I'm going to be going TLO True Living Organics asap using these square pots so I can side dress them and have a mulch layer on top where microbial life will thrive and put the nutes you top dress with to work much faster...

I'm just wondering what DrBud thinks about this and the rest of you micro growers, I'm thinking with sticky sides and dry nutes on the bottom I probably can make it all the way through with just water??

Seems like a interesting approach I personally think it would be alot easier to just mix a good Soil-less mix with some worm casting blood meal ect, and if your plants happen to utilized everything from he soil use some urine and tea to feed your plants like Dr.Bud.

The key to the plants eating is the soil has to be alive with micro live and in oder to do that you sometimes have to keep reintroduction food for the bacterial to thrive on, or more bacteria in general is needed from the teas to help turn the additives into food.

I think it could work but because of the lack of control and how/when its going to release. It's just not worth while IMO utilizing the nute's like that. As for the container size you should be fine its all about just timing it right. Your plants may grow bigger then one cola with the extra soil tho or be two tall so training will need to be done.

what up thunder! on this question I think the classic "try it out on a few of them in your current setup and see how it goes" would do. I mean you already have a dialed in set up, so throwing 5 in as usual with the new cups shouldnt be such a huge loss if it goes bad.

Where as If you were starting from scratch I may reply differently.

Hey thunder. 1.5L water bottles at publix. Cheap and are 3.25x12h. You can cut them down to 1L or 3/4L. Tall and skinny. Ive seen 24" girls in these bottlles in coir and perlite with just the top cut off.

Hoi thunder. I think to a degree it depends on the strain and how hungry it is. You should be able to do fairly well with those pots, but I'm not sure you'd be able to make it all the way through with just water. Not without at least top dressing with guanos/etc... with top dressing, you should be able to manage I'd say. Though it might be recommended to use water+molasses at least now and then, as that gives good food to the microherd and helps the little ones thrive. I haven't tried it myself, but that's my halfassed, not really educated estimate. It would also depend a bit on how rich your soil mix itself was.

I think it'll work fine, but just pay attention to the plants, to be 100% sure. They will let you know if it is working or not. Strain plays a bit in this too, but not as much as preparation. I think if you did the sticky sides and dry nutes you'll be fine. They will be smaller plants, so they will use less nutes. :2cents:
