Then tell me how to hook up my Presario cq50 laptop to my sony bravia lcd tv with a male/male vga cable. :)

Right now the tv won't recognize the signal.

Plants, I got... but technology isn't my thing. Any help would be great. :)

Thanks,
cc

What OS are you running ?

There is a setting you need to "tick" on the laptop in order to send the signal to the TV....

plug it into your tv
right click your desktop
go to your video card (should say Nvidia or ATI Radeon)
go to your monitor settings.. change the output to Clone and the image from your laptop will showup on your t.v.
(these instructions are based off windows xp)

you might be lucky, but there is about a 90% chance you're gonna have to do some troubleshooting... try dl'ing a bunch of different versions of drivers for your video card, sometimes an older version will work.. google is your friend

You may have better luck with S-Video cables....I have to look up your brand PC..... :joint:

Processor1.9GHz AMD Athlon X2 QL-60Memory2GB at 667MHzHard drive160GB, 5,400rpmGraphics256MB Nvidia GeForce 8200M GOperating systemWindows Vista Home PremiumDimensions (WDH)14.1 x 10.1 x 1.4 inchesScreen size (diagonal)15.4 inchesSystem weight / Weight with AC adapter5.8 / 6.6 pounds

With that vid card you should have no issue....make sure both the pc and the TV are turned off when hook them up.

Make sure TV is on the right setting (a/v 1,2 etc)

Make sure your pc display settings are correct as mentioned above....

DVI - HDMI

best way!

seriously...i never used VGA. do they make vga to dvi adapters? if your tv has hdmi inputs, just go that route instead. otherwise, i'd have to be there looking at the equip to make a better guess
