Strain: Chuck D
Original Sour Diesel clone X Deep Chunk Indica
Breeder: Cannacopia
Interesting cross and the seeds were inexpensive.
Grown indoors this strain proved to be very vigorous with dense trichome covered buds and is very potent.
The first time I smoked Chuck D I took three or four hits which turned out to be just way too much. It felt like I was on a roller coaster with my heart nearly pounding out of my chest. I remember thinking "Holy crap, there's a lot of THC in that plant". I've found that just a pinch of bud will keep me baked for four + hours.
The high (with a moderate dose) is a hybrid type high, not racy or sedative.
It does keep me awake though. I have never fallen asleep any sooner than about five hours after smoking it even if smoked late at night.
For me the high made everything just much more interesting than usual with some insight and clarity while maintaining a fairly high level of functionality. I found that while working at the computer for instance I am much more focused and better organized. The only body effect I noticed was that mild floating sensation you sometimes get while smoking.
It does seem to pretty seriously distort the perception of time. As the high begins to wind down I inevitably look at the clock and am always surprised at the amount of time that has passed.
Some strains are noted for increasing your sex drive and Chuck D is definitely in that category.
While growing the plant had an interesting smell that I couldn't place at first. It didn't smell of diesel but something somewhat related. I was cleaning some computer parts with alcohol and I realized, that was it. The flowers smell surprisingly like isopropyl alcohol.
The grow was vented to the outdoors and as the plants started to flower I had to screen the exhaust. When the fan stopped green bottle flies would get by the back draft flapper and travel down through the exhaust ducting to get to the flowers. The plants must have been exuding an odor that the flies found very attractive to travel all that way in the dark.
After drying and curing it smells quite a bit like roasted peanuts but the smoke is a generic weed flavor.
I made a tincture from the trim and some of the bud. I didn't concentrate the extract but left the volume as it was. I ended up with about 9 ounces which I found to be surprisingly strong. 2 milliliters is a very pleasant mellow long lasting experience and 4 is about as much as I find entertaining.
All in all a very nice very potent strain certainly worth considering for your garden.
