I heard the Mazar-I-Sharif being given away as freebies are a straight from the point of origin, unselected, unworked seeds. Try REEFS MiS, I believe it has been worked for years and is very stable. No personal experiance mind you, just stuff I've picked up off threads , so , take this info for what it is. There probably are some good phenos in the freebies but most likely take a lot of searching.

Im no expert, i dont think there really are any. Just an affie lover growing his way through life.

I havent grown Kc's, but i know it to be good. In fact, Ive grown 5 Kc strains and all were top notch. I consider kc to be a top breeder. I have his special, i just havent grown it.( try the brain damage)

I recieved the Nirvana afghani as a freebie, and one year i had a little extra space so I popped them. I grew them outdoors not expecting much but you never know what you'll find. Kc brains has taught me that price is irrelevant. If the pudding is tasty, the proof is self evident: these plants were consistent and had a good stone. I ordered 3 packs immediately just to have them on hand.

As far as the plants "not looking indica", its my view that plant appearance and leaf shape isn't a very good predicator of variety. A plant with huge fat fans, will have thinner secondary leafing and the leaves the accompany the flowers can be razor thin. Norther lights for example is mostly indica but has very thin leaves. Ive seen heavy indica's with haze like leaves. I grew out mandala 1 which had big fat fans but had a serious sativa buzz.

There has been a rumor that Maple leaf Indica has been modified from its original breeding. I didn't grow it the first year, so i cant testify to that plant. I have grown it every year since and havent noticed any difference in the plants from the original grow. I have spoken with sensi seeds numerous times about this rumor and Maple leaf and they assure me it is untrue. They contend that MLI's presoviet genetic are unique and rare and they would never ever alter it. That certainly has been my experience. I have spoken to their MLI grower who has shared his knowledge.

Its my view she is still a hybrid of 2 very closely related affies, both of which were removed from afghanistan before the russians ruined the affie culture. She's rare indeed in my view.

It seems that Nirvana discontinued their Afghan.. it's no more on their site.

It was only "afghan" I grew and I liked the bud.. It was small, nice looking and small yielding indica outdoors, finishing at mid october.. thick smoke with strong shortlasting stone...

I'm running Nirvana Afghani alongside Nirvana NL at the moment, and the Afghani has much thinner leaves than the NL, which surprised me, although I wouldn't say it looks sativa-ish. The overall structure is definitely your typical indica. One is stretching like crazy, while the other is hardly stretching at all. Slow to show sex - no sign yet at day 18 of 12/12, whereas all the NLs showed a few days ago. Heavy feeder. Not much smell - generic "growing weed" smell with maybe a hint of lemon. My first run with her so I can't say for how long she'll go or what the yield or high are like.

Using the term Indica or Indica Like to describe afghani weed is incorrect IMHO ... Affys are a class of cannabis on their own ... and all weed that gets you high is an Indica ... they've got it backwards giving the Broad term Cannabis Sativa to the whole family ... Sativas are hemp. Hell must have froze over ...

I believe the Affy was a ThinLeaf beffore all the Afghan wars....

i think local peeps started crossing it with Russian stuff ...simply to increese Hash yealds,,,in order to trade it for guns

so ...the older the Affy the BETTER,,,id say

Well,

this is only a subjective conceptual classification. Other people can use a completly different cannabis classification and it's still valid.

Humans like to define and classificate everything but plants doesnt understand this silly abstractions.

I just finished a grow of Mandal1. It is a true pleasure to grow. It has the most trichs I have ever seen on a plant and a very pleasing smell. I didnt need any oder control with her at all.The main cola and budds were very firm and heavy. Mandala has some great genetics and Mike has good prices also. They will answer your e-mails or respond to questions you have on the mandala thread here. I am doing a run of 10 kalichakra right now. with 2 true blueberry and 2 highland mexicans. I will take the best male of blueberry or mexican to get a good seed harvest. My two cents on afghi's time for some sativas.
