IYO(Does Fox Farms Suck)?

Does Fox Farms suck in your opinion. This whole boards and others seem to think it's gods gift but really, some experts I've talked to said it's crap. The best soil you'll get is home made. Your opinions.

as a store bought premix I prefer ocean forest for sure but thats when I dont feel like mixing or fall behind not paying attn.

otherwise I prefer a bale of promix with blood, bone, kelp, epsom, dolomite and castings.

Was one of the first bag soil bought to do the duty . Works phenomenal if used properly , didn't even add anything to it , thats was 2001 I believe . Stuff was $12 where i used to live . Then done Roots , then Black Gold ...... boring and all expensive .
I buy local soil from a nursery now really cheap ; $7 for 2 cubic feet now and use tea ..... never been happier .

IMO no it doesnt suck.

Only ever did 1 soil grow, but it was a mix of 1 bag FFOF and 1 bag Happy Frog. I'm still impressed by how well it went. If I ever go back to soil(not likely) it will be Fox Farm soil again.

i used the little that my grandfather had left over and it did the job but most of our soil was just 5 parts potting soil 5 parts perlite and two parts compost and that worked well

FFOF is the best pre-mixed soil my local nursery offers and is one of the only organic mixes they offer. The only problem's I have had with Ocean forrest is the compression rate which is easily fixed by adding extra perlite. Never had it burn any of my plants I've started seedlings in it. Fox farm liquid nutes are great on house plants and vegetables. Nice alternative to those who are not able to make their own soils, definitely better/cheaper nutes out there though.

I find that FFOF drains exceptionally well. I put seedlings into it right after they pop. The organic mixture has plenty of nutrients to keep the seedling very healthy and happy after the cots are gone, and into the transitional period and repot. No nutrients needed until bloom with most any strain of pot. Sure some throw the kitchen sink at them right off..but with FFOF it is not needed. The N in the mix is not real heavy like some soils, and you can plant right into it without worrying about it burning seedlings. I have popped right in it, and never seen a burnt ling.
When I repot for flower, I pot in 50%FFOF/50% coco, and have had the best luck of any medium I have every used. Prolific growth, and much less picky than straight coco.

Love me some Fox Farm.

I like to mix LW, PM, and OF, with some fox farm chunky pearlite. I also add in some fox farm Peace of Mind dry ferts.

Shit works wonders.

yeah, i like FOX FARM stuff too. i use the promix, along with one bag each of FFOF and FFLW only used it once though and as an additive for my soil mix and not too much of a base. my bases are the promix/ewc/perilite so the LW and Of were nute additives to me.

i reuse my soil so, if anything i can go either way with it, next grow im just gonna get a back of blood/bone meal from HD and thats it, ill be watering with hydro nutes

I love their soil's, but I dont care for their nutrients. The products give you large yeilds but the final product is not so tastey even with a proper flush. Very easy to burn plants aswell. Even after a 2 week flush buds burned thick and black. I've moved on to homemade organic teas, the taste just cant be beat. I will still proudly endorse their soils, it makes it too easy to get nice soil mix, 50/50 mix FF ocean forest, light warrior.

I used FF's nute line and OF soil. My 'grow bro' did not. He saw and has smoked my first plant. Now he does. (True story.)

Really, the soil is great. Like others have said, I put seedlings into it as soon as they have a pair of true leaves and they have never burned on me. I have a couple decades of tomato gardening experience, and I will tell you that this year I used FFOF and some of the Grow Big on them. They're far and away the healthiest tomato seedlings I've ever grown. They love the stuff.

FFOF is ok if you want to deal with the mess of soil. It does well right out of the bag for a few months until you have to fertilize.

If you do hydro, their nutes leave horrible nutrient fallout gunk that has to be scrubbed out of your res. Give me GH Flora or Canna nutrients any day.

My roomate wants to switch to soil because hes too lazy to properly do hydro correctly, so i am giving him the greenlight on the next six plants to plant them into soil.

I am pushing him towards FFOF and a mix of perlite, what else should he add? He wants to buy some random organix mix from some nursery around the ways, what should we look for in the mix?

Last time he did soil he burned the fuck out his plants because he fed them acid based fertilizer for some genius reason.

Has me kinda worried whats gonna happen, dont wanna see him fuck up but we will see..

For SOIL they're GREAT
for Hydro, I would run something else all together.

This is my First ever FF SOIL grow.

In the third picture you may notice AN Big Bud. I was going to use it but I've had it for about a year and it smells spoiled.
