So i see these properties that have a gas well on them, and whoever owns/rents the property gets free natural gas supply. I even know a few ppl who dont even have utility bills because they get genny's for the power, and have well water. My question is... How far do you think you could go with this...? Could i just hook up a 45kw genny and throw up like 60+ lights on a flip flop (30 and 30)? Do you think they would bitch or even notice the usage..? I dont know what the fine print is on this ordeal, can anyone fill me in..?

Call me stupid but can you run natural gas through a diesel engine:S?

If the well is on your property you get a lot of free gas, enough to forget about insulation in winter. Normally you get 300,000 mcf or something like that, not sure of the numbers, but about twice what it would take to heat your house.
My neighbor is trying to make electricity with his well, but he went cheap on the genset so his $1000 unit spends most of its' time at the repair shop; the company is getting real slow about repairs since he is wearing them out. His house is the dark one.
I don't know if the bigger whole house generators like Generacs are rated for constant use, they're usually sold as backup units. I wonder how they would hold up to a nonstop pounding. It would be nice to hear from someone living really remote who does use one as their only source of electricity.

from what i read and heard generators are supposed to be a pain somewhere not healthy! ... george cervantes is bringing up an example of someone using a generator and was just worrying about his generator the time he used it!

usually generators just can run 8 maximum 10 hours straight on 75% usage. so if you run 60 600 on this is about 36000w if you want to install other things like vents you get problems ... if you flip flop then you probably need 2 generators.
even more a generator uses a shit load of fuel ... i dont know about gas but a normal generator needs about 200g/kwh thats for 31 days 24hours 30kw light about 4000kg of fuel for a month! (dont kill me if im wrong!)

and genertors with probably 45kw are kind of big as well!

but if you have one running and keep it quiet you probably the king

Nat gas gennies aren't meant for continuous duty. Unfortunately, diesels are the only ones that appear to work for constant use.

Well i could just get 2 then and run them for 6 hrs each. But what im trying to get at is.... How many watts can i run until i go past the allotted amount of free gas..? How exactly does the gas company judge how much free gas you get to use in the first place...?
