Metal, 80's Hair,Rock n' roll, Rap sampling rock, Thrash, Prog rock, Electronic rock, Grind, whatever...

As long as there's some epic shredding and glass breaking notes, I love it

What about you guys? Its seriously love it or hate it, there's no inbetween

In fact, i think i'm going to cut a record of all wailing guitars with a drum machine and my laptop and of course my trusty steed, the axe...and it will be called "EPIC"

i absolutly love the "horus eye" picture side "side 2" of Iron Maiden "Powerslave" ...The last 2 or 3 songs are some of the tastiest guitar mastery of music.Ahh hell the whole album is just greeat guitar stuff.I keep 2 copies around in case of mis-placement

Death/Melodic Death: Decapitated...pretty much most of their "middle" stuff

"Electronic Rock" (because i dont know what else to call it): Ratatat -Classics, LP3, some of their s/t

Classic/Surf: Dick Dale, the Ventures, Pink floyd's "One of these days"

Doom: Black fucking sabbath (no dio dammit)

there's way too many to list, these are just some i can think of off the top of my head/ have been listening to lately

Keep them coming

Mr.Crowley - Ozzy. Gotta love any solo by Randy

Just killing time - Black Label Society. Zakk really stepped out of the box on this one. One of the most soulful guitar solos I've heard in a long time, he really hangs on some notes for awhile.

Domination - Pantera. In your face thrash styled solo

The Sleep - Pantera. If you like bends then check this out. unbelievable

Snowblind - Sabbath

Tornado of souls - Megadeth.

When I was younger , some licks would bring chills to the body from Juda to Slayer , but now it (as in the metal bands now except for Mastadon) sound pretentious .... like they are trying . Now with years of toking I tend to listen to crazy stuff like The Mars Volta . Crap , does that put me in the middle ?

And I'm suprised nobody has released an all whaling of a guitar album or compi . Or was that SRV ?

TMV - Cygnus Vimund Cygnus live or album
Dimmu Borgir - any - flat out cheesy
can't list the last as it requires a battle of the bands comp .

funny you said mars volta, i rocked out to them a little today

good music is good music...it means you're growing up dude
I used to listen to metal and metal only, and everything else was crap wether i had listened to it or not...

i woke up one day and realized that music had nothing to do with the length of my hair or the length of my negativity...

the Pixies are great....and there's pretty much zero metal in their albums.. except maybe "tame" or something..

end rant, onto the glorious heavy metal thunderous licks

Lightning Bolt - Beautiful Rainbow

Greyskull

no one has mentioned jimmy page & stairway wow!!! dime (rip) said it best when he said "zep is bad dude". that solo, as generic a #1 as it is, is the poop. totally.

srv's "little wing" is one big long beautiful wank. the louder the better.

alex lifeson's solo in "limelight" is perfect.

adam jones' work in TOOL's "third eye" is pretty sick too

tony iommi on "war pigs" is righteous

jerry cantrells lines in "would?" are so smooth....

I second on the solo from Third Eye. The insane energy of it is what I strived for when I first started playing.

I second actually all the selections. Good choices, except the Zep reference. I Love Zep, but that solo is very.. standard. Not really anything special. The solo in Dazed & Confused though, FUCK!
Others..

Rush - The Twilight Zone (TASTY Pinch harmonics)
Pink Floyd - Shine on you Crazy Diamond
The Mars Volta - Cyngus (OMFG!), Roulette Dares, and The Widow - The solo he does for the Widow is almost a note for note copy of a Zep Riff.
Hendrix - Red House
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Testify
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Rage Against The Machine - Darkness
and for wailing... Steve Vai - For The Love Of God ..

that´s what I´ve got off the top of my head

Rock on!

P:S: Almost forgot (all) the solo work on A Perfect Circle - Brena. Loud and with a big fat brownie smile!

been thinkin about billy gibbons lately; got a great tone and a lot of nastyness out of his guitar, wierd farting noises LOL ... i like solos where they get in and out, they can get tedious quick.

Intruder-Van Halen (whats usually played on the radio as the intro to Pretty Woman)
Mountain Song-Jane's Addiction
Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo-Rick Derringer
You really got me -Van Halen
Little Dreamer-Van Halen
Warped-Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jamie's Cryin'-Van Halen

Johnny Winter is old now, but when he played, he would get every imaginable sound out of his guitar and had some smokin' solo's.
