Could You Say A Prayer For A Friend

Hello Everyone,

I am not religious, and never requested anything like this, but a friend of mine, Jerry, is gravely ill with stage 3 lymphoma and I don't even know what that means really. He is the kindest gentleman there is and it is sad to see him like this.

Anyways, could you folks keep him in your thoughts or pass a healing thought his way. Sometimes the power of positive thinking works. He is getting chemo now. I would give him some herb if it would help him get better.

No need to respond here unless you would like to.

Take it easy everyone.

Hey Hansel...

Bummer dude. I'm not a religious person either, but I feel it can never hurt to send a thought out into the universe just in case something is out there listening. So I will send a thought for your friend.

Regarding whether cannabis can help your friend...I think it is pretty well documented that cannabis can be a big help in regards to the negative side effects of the chemo. Here is a link that might be of assistance:

Hope your friend gets well soon. Oh yeah, I read a book once that studied the effects of prayer on living organisms (actually studied the effect prayer had on the growth of seedlings), and the books conclusions were that prayer worked, and worked best if the prayer was a non-specific request. For example...you wouldn't want to pray that your friend be cured of cancer...you would want to pray that "God" use his/her ultimate wisdom to do the best thing possible for your friend. If I could remember the name of the book I would tell ya, but I can't.

I guess I was thinking it would be cool if something actually helped him, but I have seen this scenario too many times. Usually the person is diagnosed, then given some type of treatment that often makes them sick, occaisionally they get better, but usually get worse, then are put on morphine to waste away to nothing and then die.

I have seen it happen to several people and it is a terrible way to die.

Sorry I don't mean to sound so morbid.

Hansel,
Pure and simple. Give your friend the bud. Not only does it help the chemo, but it'll put him in a better frame of mind IMO. I swear to the Supreme Being that when I'm taking my last breath, somebody better be shoving a joint at my lips. Sending the GOOD Karma your friends' way, hoping they'll get better and work their way through this stressful time.

Thanks for you thoughts folks.

I didn't go visit him in the hospital today because I have a cold and there are signs all over the door to stay away if you do because the chemo patients get very weak and are suseptible to disease, but some folks that did visit said he is really weak and not eating a thing. He has lost all of his hair and a lot of weight, and doesn't even want people to see him that way. It doesn't look good. I hate to see someone go through this misery. About the best thing they can do is keep him wasted on morphine or something so it takes the pain and worry away.

hi hansel,

I hope that your friend is doing more than okay. unfortunately many of us take our lives for granted, and it is really by going through tough times that we learn to appreciate the value and joy of life again. but fortunately, tough times are always followed by better times. sending your friend prayers and hope.

I truly think positivity has a big part of beating cancer. From personal experience, it seems to do more than chemo/radiation. That and some well grown meds. Atleast I hope those are available for your friend. Not usually the case here. It's a great thing asking for positive vibes here. Sends a loud and clear message. Good luck to your friend, and anyone touched by cancer!!!!!!!
