hey there,

sorry about your situation. Call a lawyer. I think it all depends on the amount of weed in question.

well considering it is a felony to transport illegal goods in the mail then i would say he should get a lawyer immediately. So did he mail it to his own house?

In general fedex will chuck the package or hand it over to local police who generally do nothing, moving packages via private courier and the USPS are 2 different things.I know people who have lost 4oz in a Fedex package and nothing ever happened. In the future you might let your friend know that Fedex is your worst option considering the elaborate drug sniffers @ their hub in Memphis. It's pretty hard to get by a dog.Ups is better, but shipping weed is a dangerous business.USPS has I believe less money for drug sniffers but I don't really know. Many packages I know of have been seized, none via private courier, unless it was a LARGE amount, were ever bothered.Good luck with it.:joint::joint:

if they going from a med use place to another med use place
they might have a leg to stand on in this but i'd check with a lawyer

Don't ship anything MJ related fedex OR UPS these companies both work with LEO.

As far as the OP's question it depends on who/where it was addressed to, and the return addy. How do they know the police have it?

How do you know the police have it?

Did he use overnight or 2nd day... or just regular fedex shipping?

DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Don't sign for any packages... But they're not going to waste their time on such a small amount. I had 1lb seized that I shipped from Mexico, and all I got was a letter letting me know that if I wanted to claim it, the case would be forwarded to the prosecutor.

As long as there aren't any fingerprints on/in the package this can be beat in court, beyond a reasonable doubt. There is no way it can be 100% proven that anyone intended to receive said package. People do ship explosives to kill other people, proof that packages get sent w/o recipients expecting them, reasonable doubt. All a person needs to say is that they were not expecting a package and before answering anymore questions drop the L bomb. Let the cops know that you will talk to a Lawyer before saying anything else.

Yea dont worry about it, if the package was shipped to your address you can claim you dont know who sent it, say someone maybe trying to blackmail you.

You have no return address, no fingerprints, etc, so dont worry. Plus its only a zone.

Do you mind me asking what general area this happened in? Becuase i routinely ship meds once and a while to my brother but its never more than a QP at once. And never use UPS or FEDex number one rule!! Make sure you have no prints on the package! I ship in Peanut Butter to help kill any dog sniffers.

I have gottens dozens of UScustoms notices back when I was stupid saying that they confiscated something illegall and may take legal actions . I don't believe they give criminals a heads up , they see if they have a case and nab you when you least expected . There going to want the big fish to sorta save our tax dollars .

But I feel most of the stuff thats confiscated iz done by fellow smokers . Think of how many stoners work at ups or fedex .

i can't remember if he said it was shipped through customs and they got it because that's not a big issue. a bigger issue is if it was domestic because then it's not customs officials its the local police, which in an area like mine would be investigated immediately. In this area if someone pulls somebody over at least 3 or 4 additional cops swarm in as backup?

absolute insanity

I would think if they were going to do something they would deliver it and grab whomever signs for or actually takes possession of the package. Otherwise I'm sending some old brick weed to some New York bankers......hmmm

if you paid in cash there is no proof that he sent the package to himself. just like the other guy said, tell him to say he wasnt expecting a package and he cant say anything else without his lawyer.. if a credit card was used he might be in some trouble
